After being accused of cashing in on her sister’s fame, Samantha Markle- Meghan Markle’s half-sister- has seemingly confirmed the rumours that she’s taking part in the next series of Celebrity Big Brother.
Supposedly high on the producers list of celebrities to get in, Samantha would be on our screens for five weeks while staying in the CBB house in Elstree. When asked about appearing on the reality TV show, she told Inside Edition:
‘Why not? Life is about cashing in, you… take opportunities as they arise and hopefully you enjoy the ride.
‘And you can make it as positive as you can, there’s nothing wrong with it. The purpose of that show would not be to discuss [Meghan]’
Of course, whether that’s her purpose or not, that’s the reason she’s in there. This year’s CBB theme is ‘The Eye of The Storm’, essentially celebrities caught up in scandals.
Samantha has been accused of using her family dramato make money and heighten her own status since her book, The Diary Of Princess Pushy’s Sister, was announced. Conducting several interviews since then, she addressed the criticism on Good Morning Britain this morning.
‘Let’s face it we all have to survive’, she told Kate Garraway and Charlotte Hawkins, ‘money makes the world go around, so if you want to call that cashing in that’s fine but I think no one in media would refuse a paycheck for talking about the royals’
Somewhat talking herself in circles, she went on to say, ‘as a family we’re not subject to royal protocol, certainly here in America so if you want to call it cashing in I think that’s a little bit ridiculous.’
And when asked about the rumours of a celebrity big brother appearance, she said, ‘I’ve worked in media most of my life, why would I not? Why would I stop living because I have a family issue going on?’
However, after very much implying she would be on the TV show to various publications, she refused to confirm, continuing:
‘Well I would tell you but then I would have to kill you...I don't want to find myself in locks and stocks.’
We’re unlikely to know for sure whether Samantha will enter until August 17th, the day the show airs, as not only will producers want to heighten speculation for the premiere, but we can imagine there will also be tons of behind-the-scenes back and forth between Samantha and the royal family representatives to stop this from happening.
Regardless of whether she enters, the masterminds behind this PR move are certainly earning their paychecks, we’re already on tenterhooks for the premiere and we thought this year’s Love Island had bored us off reality TV for good…
