‘I Love You Sam. Forever’: Zara McDermott Pens Emotional Apology To Sam Thompson After Split

We're not going to lie, when one of our favourite reality couples - Sam Thompson and Zara McDermott - split up, we were genuinely sad about it. The couple, who are reported to have called time on their romance last month, had just enjoyed a loved-up holiday in Mykonos and seemed closer than ever when they caught up with Grazia earlier this year.

Nevertheless, it is over. Mail Online is also claiming that Zara cheated on Sam during her time on Celebrity X Factor last year. 'Zara cheated on Sam with someone in the music industry,' a source told the publication. 'Someone connected to the X Factor.' After weeks of speculation, Zara has now addressed the news and confirmed the claims.

'Hey Everyone. I just wanted to address the recent speculation in the media', Zara wrote on Instagram. 'A huge mistake I made a year ago has recently come to light and I want to face this head on. I don’t condone being unfaithful and I made a huge mistake at a time in my life where I was hugely selfish and immature.'I believe I have learnt so much from my mistake. I want to apologise to my Sam for everything I have put him through, for the pain, the embarrassment, the anger and the hurt. All I want to do is make this right and I think the least he deserves is me being honest with myself and all of you. I love you Sam. Forever x'

The statement follows Sam's friend Pete Wicks speaking out last month. 'He's had a rough time recently. If there's one person that is probably worse when it comes to dating than me, it's Sam Thompson', Pete said in an interview with Mail Online.

'Sam overthinks everything – I have never known anyone to overthink like he does. Sometimes I think he can be too nice. He's made mistakes, he's made a number of them but he's a really, really nice geezer and I think sometimes people try to pull the wool over his eyes. It didn't work out for me trying to give things another go… as far as I'm concerned, what goes on between Sam and Zara isn't really my place to say until they come out and openly discuss everything. But in my opinion he needs to concentrate on himself and making himself happy. It's been a rough ride for him. It's not nice to see someone as down so as what he has been about it but he will bounce back, we all bounce back.'

At the beginning of lockdown, Zara had moved into Sam's London flat. But those who are eagle-eyed might have predicted the split, as the pair - who are very active on social media - haven't posted anything together online since last month.

'Zara has moved back to her parents' house in Essex where she's taking some time for herself, she really loved Sam so this hasn't been easy for her,' a source told the website. 'Sam has gone away to have a break from it all and clear his head away from Zara and social media.'

Last month Sam's sister, Louise, who is engaged to Ryan Libbey, posted a tweet which was aimed at a friend 'cheating' and trust taking 'seconds to break.'

The pair have been together since May last year, with former Love Islander Zara then joining Made In Chelsea. There was a lot of drama when Sam's ex, Tiff Watson, rejoined the show, with Zara frequently arguing with Sam over their friendship.
