Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have chosen Alexi Lubomirski to be their official wedding photographer, Kensington Palace has announced today.

‘Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle have selected Alexi Lubomirski to take the official photographs at Windsor Castle following their wedding at St George’s Chapel on 19th May,’ a palace spokesperson wrote.

Those who have feverishly followed every detail of Meghan and Harry’s wedding preparations will certainly be familiar with Lubomirski’s name, after the acclaimed portrait photographer shot the couple for their official engagement pictures. The images, which were released in December last year, showed Harry and Meghan in the grounds of Frogmore House, which will host their wedding reception next month.

‘Alexi is a well-known portrait photographer, and photographed Prince Harry and Ms. Markle last year at Frogmore House, Windsor, to mark the news of their engagement,’ the statement continued.

After today’s announcement, the photographer said he ‘could not be more thrilled or honoured to photograph this historic occasion.’

‘Having taken Prince Harry and Ms. Markle’s engagement photos, it brings me such joy to be able to witness again the next chapter in this wonderful love story,’ he added.

Discussing his experiences on the engagement shoot, Lubomirski revealed earlier this month that he had first come to Meghan’s attention through Instagram. ‘I think one of Meghan’s friends saw me on Instagram, that I was in England during the announcement of the engagement and I was told later that this person said to her, “You should meet Alexi. He’s great. You’d love him” and that was it,’ he told E! News at the Daily Front Row Fashion Awards in Los Angeles.

For his 2011 wedding, Harry’s older brother Prince William and his wife the Duchess of Cambridge asked Hugo Burnand to act as their official photographer, and posed for photos with the bridesmaids, page boys, the royal family and the Middletons in the throne room at Buckingham Palace.
