He may have only just gotten married himself, but Prince Harry is having to gear up for another high stakes role in a wedding this summer. The now-Duke of Sussex is set to be best man for his childhood friend Charlie van Straubenzee, who is said to have delivered a playful speech at the Royal Wedding in May.
Charlie and Harry have been friends since attending Ludgrove Prep School together in Berkshire, he and his elder brother Thomas – who is Princess Charlotte’s godfather- were both ushers at Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle last month.
In fact, he even gave a toast during the evening reception at Frogmore House, allegedly referring to Harry’s ‘ginger locks’ and making fun of the antics from his youth (well, there are tons to choose from to be fair, remember naked Vegas?).
And it seems this has upped their friendship stakes, as Harry has been promoted from usher at Charlie’s last wedding in 2013, to best man at his upcoming wedding this summer. Charlie was previously married to Melissa Percy, daughter of the Duke of Northumberland, but divorced after three years.
Now, he will marry Daisy Jens, a filmmaker in Surrey in August. So, will Harry return the favour with a banter-filled speech about their youth? We know Harry has the most banter of all the royals (which we’re not sure is a compliment to him or not) just from this video alone…
Honestly, we’re more excited to see Harry suited up again, and what Meghan will wear. Maybe she'll take note from one of her many stylish wedding guests...
