So, this year's Met Gala... what a night!
As usual, we brought you all the news – and the GOWNS – as it/they emerged, straight from the red carpet.
But to refresh your memory on last night's ball – the night where the world's biggest stars decked themselves out as per the 'Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology' dress code (a veritable mouthful, we know) – read all you need to know about The Met, here...
However, while the Met's steps were graced by some of the biggest names in fashion, film and music, we couldn't help wondering what had happened to one of our favourite Met Gala veterans...
Of course, we're talking about Rihanna. The singer has managed to shut down with red carpet with a series of dramatic looks since her 2007 debut - who can forget last year's so-called 'omelette' dress by Chinese couturier Guo Pei? At this year's event, though, she was nowhere to be seen.
The reason behind RiRi's no show? The singer is currently in the middle of her epic Anti world tour, with her show in Phoenix, Arizona scheduled for the May 1st ( the night before the Gala) and two dates at the Los Angeles Forum arranged for May 3rd and May 4th. So fear not - Rihanna's conspicuous absence was simply down to a matter of diary clashes.
The singer didn't fail to mark the event, though, posting a hilarious Instagram recap of some of her most iconic looks captioned 'Meanwhile, in Times Square...'
There's the yellow 'omelette' dress, her sparkling 'naked' dress from the CFDAs in 2014, the 'B*tch Better Have My Money' video outfit...
We're already crossing our fingers that RiRi will be back on the red carpet for next year's event. It's just not the same without her...
Now check out the mesmerising outfits in our gallery

And read what happened when the stars wore them...
Gigi's manicure cost a whopping $2,000
Yes, you read that correctly. Ms. Hadid's stunning Met Gala manicure threatened to steal the show from boyfriend Zayn's bizarre Terminator sleeve. The work of nail artist Mar y Sol, her custom chrome manicure used fake nails from affordable brand Kiss Products - but they hid a very pricey secret...
'Underneath each nail, I added 3 crystals for an element of surprise and to ensure her nails look flawless no matter what angle,' Mar y Sol explained in a statement. So, that explains the major price tag, then.
Gigi and Zayn put on some mega PDA
He wore armoured sleeves, she wore a metallic corset; for their red carpet debut, Gigi and Zayn weren't going to go unnoticed.
But just to make sure, there was some good old-fashioned PDA on view as well. Cue: a frenzy of flashing cameras.
** Beyonce arrived... without Jay Z**
Basking in the recent success of her brand new solo album, Lemonade Beyonce clearly didn't need hand-holding. So the fact that Jay Z wasn't her date to the ball, shouldn't have fazed her one bit. ([But it fazed us, where was he?!](
https://graziadaily.co.uk/celebrity/news/beyonce-met-gala-jay-z/))
The Halo singer opted for an unusual design this year – a Givenchy creation in nude, made of LATEX, with mutton-chop sleeves...
Still, if anyone could pull it off, our Queen Bey could. And she did.
** Kanye West turned up in ripped jeans...**
Oh no, he didn't...
Course he did.
Whilst most of the gents opted for traditional black tie, it's little wonder that never-conventional Kanye should choose to buck the trend.
It's even less of a surprise, therefore, that not only did he not follow suit, but he chose to sport an outfit that was the complete antithesis of any sort of appropriate evening menswear. The man wore denim. Ripped denim.
Yes, seriously.
It was rather a shame really; it somewhat detracted attention from his wife, Kim who looked great in that futuristic, silver gown with the sexy thigh-split.
Still, at least they both wore designer – Balmain. Though again, that's no surprise either...
** RPatz and FKA Twigs were back on the red carpet**
They made their red carpet debut at the very same event last year and it appeared they want to make it an annual thing.
So with that in mind, Happy Anniversary!
** Lady Gaga arrived in flats**
LOLS!
** SJP snubbed a hat**
Considering her rather fabulous Philip Treacy headpieces in years' past, we were rather sad SJP opted to go hatless.
This tailored, creme Monse ensemble would have looked great with a hat. Namely a pirates's one to match the breeches. Ah-harrr.
Kendall went mosaic
Not just any mosaic – Versace mosaic. Or rather, a Versace cut-out mosaic.
Daring and delightful. We loved.
Anna Wintour SMILED
She must have been enjoying herself.
This was possibly the most newsworthy Met moment EVER (N.B. we're prone to a little exaggeration.)
Taylor Swift arrived in silver croc-skin-effect Louis Vuitton dress
Our favourite songstress arrived in a shimmering silver croc-skin-effect cutout dress.
Designed by the great Louis Vuitton, it was a risque choice from the Bad Blood singer. Bold and brave – we liked it a lot.
But she wasn't the only LV advocate. Who else did they dress...?
** Alicia Vikander! Yup she also wowed in Louis Vuitton (though, not unexpectedly)**
She's the face of LV so, of course, the Oscar-winner would wear the French fashion house for this, the fashion Oscars.
If awards were up for grabs, we'd give her one for wearing this elaborate creation for sure.
Jourdan Dunn went grey...and wore Balmain
She got ready to the tune of Nicki Minaj's 'Feeling Myself' – at which she quipped, 'I really am feeling myself though!' – and then Jourdan revealed via Instagram that she had gone grey for the night.
After that, she posted this unimpressive snap:
WHAT a knockout!
And in case you're wondering, her truly splendid silver gown was all thanks to Oliver Rousteing at Balmain.
As was...
Cindy Crawford's!
Yup, appropriately in silver (it was the unwritten part of the the dress code) super model Cindy looked sensational en route to the ball – a veritable Cindy-rella... (sorry).
Kendall Jenner got ready with Joan Smalls
Thanks to Estee Lauder, K. Jenner's make-up provider for the night, we were treated to a sneak peek of how the model got Met ready.
Wanna see?
Ok, ok...
Bearing in mind that was taken some 12 hours ahead of time, it should give you a little indication as to the preparation involved for this event.
We thought she just woke up looking great... but we're slightly relieved she needs a little help every now and again – like us.
Katie Perry might have worn a nappy
A little random, but apparently true. At a CoverGirl event in New York yesterday, Katie told reporters: 'I'm wearing a really large thing tomorrow, which will be very difficult to use the restroom in. I might just wear a diaper.
'I don't really care,' she continued. 'I am just going to be looking around for people to help me to the restroom.' Sounds like her and Jennifer Garner might have some chatting to do...
Kim Kardashian had been preparing since midnight – the night before
And she wasn't afraid to show it either.
Earlier on the day, she treated us to this, taken in the early hours of Sunday night.
Did she sleep in her dress too?
P.S. what's beneath the black scribbles, darnit?!
Kate Hudson began her prep with breakfast...
Attagirl!
...followed by Champaagne.
Kate Hudson is our kind of woman.
Karlie Kloss got ready to some tunes
She was 'feeling fancy', as hairstylist Frankie Foye perfected her 'do – and then she looked perfect too.
Although, she later ended up cutting up her dress – [but that's another story entirely](https://graziadaily.co.uk/celebrity/news/karlie-kloss-cuts-met-gala-dress/
).
That's it for this year!
