In one of the most bizarre collaborations of all time, it’s been revealed that Mariah Carey will become the new face of the Walkers Christmas adverts. (And if you’re wondering why, it’s probably because – according to The Sun – she’s been offered a reported £9 million for the campaign.)
The All I Want For Christmas Is You queen said, ‘Everyone knows how festive I am, and it's been fun getting into the holiday spirit this year with Walkers crisps - they're irresistible! I can’t say too much about the campaign yet, but there may be some fun twists at the end.’
The campaign coincides with the 25th anniversary of her iconic 1994 Merry Christmas album, which she will be re-releasing on 1 November. She will also be going on another festive-themed tour, playing Nottingham on 9 December, Leeds on 10 December and the O2 in London on 11 December.
Wayne Newton, head of marketing at Walkers, said, ‘Our seasonal range of flavours – from Pigs in Blankets to Brussels Sprouts – has just been reintroduced to shelves, and we know the nation is already feeling festive as a result. But with Mariah on board too, our Christmas spirit has just stepped up a gear. We can finally announce that the Queen of Christmas herself will be the star of our biggest ever Walkers Christmas advert.’
