Being rushed to hospital isn't exactly how anyone wants to spend their Monday evening, but that was the reality for Love Island's Maura Higgins who spent the night waiting in A&E following a gruesome accident.

To fill in her followers about her Monday, the Love Island star posted this photo on her Instagram story and wrote, 'Ended up in A&E after slicing my finger to the bone... Happy F---ing Monday!!'

Since appearing on the reality show in 2019, Maura's career has gone from strength to strength. While she didn't find love with Curtis Pritchard, she later dated Chris Taylor, and then Strictly Come Dancing professional Giovanni Pernice. The pair have just split, with Giovanni later issuing a statement to say that there was no wrong-doing.

But Maura has a lot to celebrate, as she's just signed a modelling contract with Elite, the same agency that represents Naomi Campbell and Kendall Jenner. Casual.

An insider told Closer magazine{ =nofollow}, 'Maura is hoping the new modelling deal will open up a lot of opportunities for her in America and she is really excited by that. She loves travelling and would be open to moving to the States if she needed to in order to further her modelling career.'

A PR expert even added that Maura could become the next big thing over in the US. Nick Ede told the mag, 'If she plays her cards right, she could earn £5m in the next year. She’s got a good chance to make it big because she is good-looking, articulate, and she can play the fame game. I can see her becoming a socialite – a bit like a Hailey Bieber or Nicole Richie.'

Before that though, Maura will need to rest up after her injury and we're hoping she'll make a speedy recovery.
