It's no secret there's a lot of money to be made after appearing on Love Island{ =nofollow}. Whether that's from club appearances, teeth whitening deals on Instagram or other TV appearances, one of the most appealing side effects of reality fame is the eye-watering amount of cash up for grabs. And, during lockdown, when shoots and appearances were cancelled, celebs jumped on another way to make money online.

No, we're not talking about OnlyFans - ratherCameo, the video service where you can pay celebrities to wish your mate a happy birthday, or give you a personalised shoutout. The American app has soared in popularity over the pandemic, with thousands of celebs now online ready to give shoutouts. Over lockdown, you might have seen viral videos from James Buckley, otherwise known as Jay from the Inbetweeners, and Carole Baskin, the big cat activist made famous by Netflix's Tiger King. Even Married At First Sight Australia stars have been getting involved, as the sixth season soared in popularity in the UK over lockdown three.

If you give a quick search of Love Island on Cameo, you can see a few standout names from the past few series. There's Curtis Pritchard (charging £63.75), Lucie Donlan (£75), Georgia Harrison (£37.50) and Chris Hughes (£63.72). But even bombshells from the current series - AJ Bunker and Rachel Finni, who have since been dumped - are on Cameo. Rachel is even trialling a new service, where you can have a short call with a celebrity or reality star.

The demand is clearly there - and there's money to be made, as one of Cameo's co-founders Martin Blencowe tells Grazia. 'There's some talent, who can easily make $300 a day, seven days a week. So if they do, say, two minutes of work a day, seven days a week, they're going to make 100 grand a year,' Martin, who set up the company in 2016, says.

But, even if you're not able to charge out huge amounts of money like Caitlyn Jenner, it's still very much worthwhile. 'Let's say if your price was a little lower, your fanbase is not necessarily the same as someone else's. But you make 30 bucks today. If you work 10 minutes a day, you're still making 10 grand a year.' He also says that people, if they get a personalised video message, are more likely to become bigger fans - meaning they're likely to support you in other ways, which could be more beneficial financially in the long-run.

In the coming weeks, there are probably going to be more Love Islanders joining the service, and their popularity is obviously going to differ. For those with bigger followings, they could be making a fortune, according to Martin. While Cameo doesn't disclose exact celebrity earnings, he says that those who have the favour of the public, they could be making a huge amount in a month. 'Reality stars can probably do six figures in a month, if they're trending at the right time and the show's really got that momentum behind it and people are watching,' he says.
