2016 is the year of Lily Rose Depp.
We called it way back in January when she appeared in technicolour glory on the cover of fashion bible Love, and since then, the 16-year-old model and actress has confirmed our prediction, adding a string of intriguing film roles to her fledgling CV and even managing to add unexpected emotional depth to Justin Bieber's 'Sorry' (if you haven't seen it already, you need to watch it, now)
Now, the genetically blessed daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis has appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair France, in a shoot which confirms her status as both a fashion darling and an actress to watch.
In the accompanying interview, Lily makes it very clear that she has designs on a Hollywood career to rival that of her father. 'For me, it's simple: I like to act,' she says. 'It frees me. I want to make it my craft.'
She goes on to explain that her upbringing played a major part in forming her career aspirations at such a young age. 'I was backstage at my mother's concerts; on [my father's] films, as well as my mother's,' she says. 'I loved the costumes and make-up. As a child I wanted to be a model or a singer.'
It was her film debut in 2014's Tusk (in which Johnny Depp also has a small role) that caused Lily Rose to 'really [take] a liking to filmmaking.' 'I loved getting under the character's skin [...] It vibrated inside me,' she explains.
With an upcoming part in comedy Yoga Hosers, alongside her close friend Harley Quinn Smith, a turn as Natalie Portman's sister in period drama Planetarium and a starring role in The Dancer, the story of ballerina Isadora Duncan, Lily Rose's star is firmly in ascendance.
