If you're holding out for some closure after that cliffhanger in the final episode of Netflix's Gilmore Girls revival, A Year In The Life, then we have some bad news courtesy of of Lorelai herself, Lauren Graham.
Earlier this year, Netflix's chief content officer Ted Sarandos confirmed that he was in 'preliminary talks' with showrunners Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino about the possibility of continuing the Stars Hollow saga after those 'final four words' - but it seems as if one vital cast member isn't so keen.
Speaking at Deadline's The Contenders panel, Lauren Graham managed to subtly shut down the prospect of another round of Gilmore Girls specials.
'If it all existed in a vacuum I would play that character until my dying day,' she revealed, before explaining that it would only be fair to return to the story if she thought it would satisfy the millions of Gilmore Girls fans.
'Now it has become, “What can we do that is satisfying, and worth continuing, and gratifying to the people who care so much about it?”’ she added.
'I don’t know if there is a need to do more. I would never want it to feel like we overstayed our welcome. There’s probably a way to keep these characters alive but I don’t know if that’s the best thing for them.'
The star went on to confirm that neither she nor her on-screen daughter Alexis Bledel (also in attendance at the panel discussion) had been formally approached about the possibility of more Gilmore Girls, with Alexis seeming similarly unwilling to confirm her interest in concluding Rory's story.
'I’m just interested in telling a story that is dynamic and that I sort of relate to and can hook into. And if that happens… I don’t know,' Alexis said. 'It’s such an unknown. I don’t think we anticipated that this would happen.'
