Justin Timberlake has responded to rumours that he is having an affair with Palmer co-star Alisha Wainright after paparazzi pictures were taken of them holding hands and stroking each other on the balcony of a bar in New Orleans.
'A few weeks ago I displayed a strong lapse in judgement,' he wrote on Instagram. 'Let me be clear, nothing happened between me and my costar. I drank way too much that night and I regret my behaviour. Ishould have known better.
'This is not the example I want to set for my son,' he continued. 'I apologise to my amazing wife and family for putting them through such an embarrassing situation, and I am focused on being the best husband and father I can be. '
'This was not that. I am incredibly proud to be working on Palmer. Looking forward to continuing to make this movie and excited for people to see it,' he concluded.
Previously, The Sun acquired footage of Timberlake - who is married to actor Jessica Biel - and Wainright getting affectionate. An onlooker told the paper, ‘At one stage he grabbed her hand and rested it on his knee. She then gently started stroking his leg. Then he clutched her hand with both of his and was playing with her hands.’ Eagle-eyed onlookers have pointed out that Timberlake also appears to not be wearing a wedding ring (Biel and Timberlake tied the knot back in 2012).
Wainwright’s representative immediately denied that anything is going on, releasing a statement, as reported by People, which said, ‘There is no validity to this speculation. They are currently working on a project together. Members of the cast and crew were all together.’ A source also insisted to the Daily Mailthat nothing was happening.
Timberlake and Wainwright are currently working on a film called Palmer, which follows ‘a former college football phenomenon who, after a stint in prison, returns to his hometown to get his life back on track.’ Timberlake will play the title character, Eddie Palmer, and Wainwright is portraying Maggie Hayes, a teacher who starts a relationship with Eddie. The film is in early stages though, as there's no release date just yet.
