Kate Hudson has caught on to the latest celebrity trend… Starting your own alcohol company. The actress has launched King St. Vodka with her partner David Kanbar, which Forbes describes as being ‘seven-times distilled, gluten-free, non-GMO vodka’. Her motivation for starting the brand, she says, was because there were no vodkas founded by women available at a bar she was in.
The Bride Wars actress announced the news on Instagram, saying, ‘After a particularly long day, I decided to host an impromptu cocktail party with my closest friends. As I prepared to whip up a batch of dirty vodka martinis I surveyed my bar, but I wasn’t 100 percent happy with my options. Then I wondered, “Are any of these vodkas founded by women?” I did some research, they weren’t. So, I decided to make my own just the way I like it!’
‘I realized it’s such a male dominated [world],’ she added to Forbes{
Other celebrities who have alcohol ventures include Jay Z, Rita Ora, George Clooney, Justin Timberlake and Drew Barrymore.
Since becoming sober 18 months ago, Made In Chelsea’s Spencer Matthews set up his own low/no alcohol brand Clean Liquor earlier this week. In a candid Instagram post, he said he gave up alcohol before he became a parent. ‘Sobriety is a lifestyle choice I made a few months before becoming a dad,' he wrote. 'In the back of my mind for many years, I had always felt that my relationship with alcohol, although seemingly harmless was unhealthy and somewhat destructive.'
