Joe Alwyn has opened up about his relationship with Taylor Swift, saying he finds it flattering that he is often the subject of her music. It’s one of the first times he’s spoken explicitly about their relationship, with the pair typically keeping it super private since they got together in September 2016.

Speaking to The Times about his new role in A Christmas Carol, Alwyn was asked if he minds that Swift writes personal music about him – most notably, London Boy. ‘No, not at all,’ he replied. ‘It’s flattering.’

And how about the fact he is very much Mr. Taylor Swift, much better known for being her boyfriend than his acting credentials? That doesn’t bother him either. ‘I just don’t pay attention to what I don’t want to pay attention to,’ he explained. ‘I turn everything else down on a dial. I don’t have any interest in tabloids. I know what I want to do, and that’s this, and that’s what I am doing.’

So then, it’s no wonder the pair have barely discussed the relationship in public – seemingly there isn’t much to say. Although, Alwyn did reveal some insider information about how the couple will be spending Christmas. According to The Times, Swift will stay in London with Alwyn until at least ‘the final days before Christmas’ in order to watch the mini-series Alwyn is starring in. That is, A Christmas Carol, in which Alwyn stars as Bob Cratchit.

While this interview might leave a lot to the imagination, it is the most Alwyn has ever revealed about his and Swift’s relationship. Previously, he has said the decision to keep it private is just normal to him – countering those who say the pair are ‘strangely private’.

‘I don’t think anyone you meet on the streets would just spill their guts out to you, therefore why should I?’ he told The Journal magazine earlier this year. ‘And then that is defined as being “strangely private”. Fine. But I don’t think it is. I think it’s normal.’

When you put it like that, it makes perfect sense.
