Jennifer Aniston And Brad Pitt’s Relationship Timeline

In an interview with Rolling Stone{=nofollow}, Jen revealed that, thanks to their managers, the actors met for the first time in 1994, saying 'He was just this sweet guy from Missouri, you know?'

A few years later, after both splitting from their significant others (Jen with Tate Donovan and Brad with Gwyneth Paltrow), they went on their very first date, arranged by their managers. Jen would later say that from this very first date, they both knew.

It wasn't long before Hollywood's newest, hottest couple made their red carpet debut at the 1999 Emmy's.

Only a few months later, the couple attended a Sting concert in New York City where they joined the singer on stage so Jen could flash her new rock — a diamond engagement ring. They sang along to Sting's song 'Fill 'Er Up', which has some pretty poignant lyrics: 'We're going to Vegas, we're gonna get wed / So fill her up, son, don't be staring / Yeah, that's a real diamond she be wearing.'

Nine months later, Jen and Brad are wed in a magical Malibu celebration with 200 guests, 50,000 flowers, four bands, fireworks and a gospel choir, according to People{=nofollow}.

Two months later, the newlyweds make their red carpet debut as Mr and Mrs at the 2000 Emmy's.

Brad guest stars on Friends as Will Colbert, a man who hates Jen's character, Rachel Green. Is this telling?

In an interview with W Magazine{=nofollow}, Jen is asked if Brad is the love of her life. We'll let her answer speak for itself: 'Is he the love of my life? I think you're always sort of wondering, "Are you the love of my life?" I mean, I don't know, I've never been someone who says, "He's the love of my life." He's certainly a big love in my life.'

Speaking to The Guardian{=nofollow}, Jen says she's ready to start a family with Brad: 'It's time. It's time. You know, I think you can work with a baby, I think you can work pregnant, I think you can do all of it. So I'm just truly looking forward to slowing down.'

Brad meets actress Angelina Jolie on the set of Mr and Mrs Smith. Angelina would later state in an interview with Vogue{=nofollow} that she fell in love with Brad on set: 'Because of the film we ended up being brought together to do all these crazy things, and I think we found this strange friendship and partnership that kind of just suddenly happened. I think a few months in I realized, 'God, I can't wait to get to work. ...anything we had to do with each other, we just found a lot of joy in it together and a lot of real teamwork. We just became kind of a pair.'

Brad and Jen announce that they are splitting, releasing a statement that said: 'We would like to announce that after seven years together we have decided to formally separate. For those who follow these sorts of things, we would like to explain that our separation is not the result of any of the speculation reported by the tabloid media. This decision is the result of much thoughtful consideration. We happily remain committed and caring friends with great love and admiration for one another. We ask in advance for your kindness and sensitivity in the coming months.'

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Jen addresses all the drama surrounding her and Brad's split, and Brad and Angelina getting together — specifically, a W Magazine shoot of Brad and Angelina together. 'Is it odd timing? Yeah. But it's not my life. He makes his choices. He can do—whatever. We're divorced, and you can see why…Brad is not mean-spirited; he would never intentionally try to rub something in my face,' Jen stated, before adding: 'There's a sensitivity chip that's missing.' Iconic.

Brad and Jen's divorce is finalised.

Jen gives another interview to Vogue{=nofollow} and discusses the statements made by Angelina regarding falling in love with Brad on set: 'There was stuff printed there that was definitely from a time when I was unaware that it was happening. I felt those details were a little inappropriate to discuss…. That stuff about how she couldn't wait to get to work every day? That was really uncool.'

Jen begins dating actor Justin Theroux after the two worked on the film Wanderlust together.

Brad gives an interview to Parade{=nofollow} in which he seemingly calls his marriage to Jen a mistake: 'It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn't living an interesting life myself. I think that my marriage had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn't.'The day the interview was published, Brad issued a statement apologising to Jen, saying 'Jen is an incredibly giving, loving, and hilarious woman who remains my friend. It is an important relationship I value greatly. The point I was trying to make is not that Jen was dull, but that I was becoming dull to myself — and that, I am responsible for.

Brad and Angelina are married.

Jen sticks up for Brad in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter{=nofollow}, stating, 'We're not in daily communication. But we wish nothing but wonderful things for each other. Nobody did anything wrong. You know what I mean? It was just, like, sometimes things [happen]. If the world only could just stop with the stupid, soap-opera bullsh*t. There's no story.'

Reports come out saying that Jen and Brad have been in contact after he tracked down her number through a 'tangled web' of contacts. It's stated that Brad wished Jen a happy birthday and confided in her regarding his split from Angelina.

Jen throws a lavish party for her 50th birthday and Brad is famously in attendance, sparking speculation that the exes are more than just friends.

Jen hosts an 'intimate' holiday party for close friends, including Brad. A source tells People 'they have been in touch a few times since her birthday and are keeping it friendly.'

In his acceptance speech at the Golden Globes, Brad jokes that he wanted to bring his mum as his date, but couldn't because 'any woman I stand next to, they say I'm dating.' Jen laughs in the audience, and the speculation begins.

Then a few weeks later, it's the picture seen around the world — Brad and Jen reunite backstage at the SAG Awards, and the media goes crazy. Since then, they've been reported to have kept in touch as friends.

And Brad and Jen treated us again in September 2020, when they reunited for a charity table read of Fast Times At Ridgemont High. It was a tiny bit awkward as the exes played Linda Barrett and Brad Hamilton - and read that steamy scene. Jennifer stayed incredibly cool as she read, 'I think you're so sexy. Will you come to me?' Brad, however, blushed quite a bit.
