In news which has given his die-hard fans a little pep in their step, Harry Styles just might be single again. The Grammy-award winning singer, 30, has not been seen with his girlfriend Taylor Russell, 29, since their ‘make or break’ trip to Japan in April, leading to several reports that they have called it quits.
The couple first got together in June 2023 but now, if tabloid reports are to be believed, they have apparently gone their separate ways after a year of dating. A source told The Sun, ‘Harry and Taylor have ended their relationship. They went through a rough patch after their trip to Japan and are taking some time apart. He’s been in America, and she’s been in London. They made a lovely couple, and it was obvious Taylor made Harry happy. Things have become strained recently though and they’ve taken some time out.’ Taylor even attended the Met Gala on her own earlier this month, a surefire way to fuel breakup rumours.
It's no secret that Harry has an army of fans who would happily volunteer has tribute to take Taylor's place. The recently launched ‘Harry’s Home Village Tour’ – operating on Saturday mornings in June and weekdays from July to September in Harry’s hometown of Cheshire – is a true testament to the power of Styles.
Understandably, then, his stans have a lot of feelings about Harry’s new relationship status. When news of the breakup broke, one fan wrote, ‘This calls for a celebration!’ and another said, ‘OMG GUYS! BUA [breakup article] IS HERE! Harry Styles has split from the model. This night couldn’t get any better.’ Another added, ‘Streets saying Harry Styles and Taylor Russell broke up we won.’
However, it wasn’t all champagne and street parties, with many ‘Harries’ loving Taylor and Harry together. ‘Did Taylor Russell and Harry Styles actually break up? I’m crying I loved them,’ one commented. ‘This Harry and Taylor break up better be fake news. She’s the best girlfriend he’s ever had,’ wrote another.
It's unlikely fans will ever hear the news straight from the horses' mouths. Neither Harry or Taylor are heavy social media users and they never hard launched their relationship nor made a public appearance together, so it's unlikely that they'll announce a 'conscious uncoupling' or liken their relationship to 'a long tennis match' (Isla Fisher, we're looking at you). For now, speculation reigns.
So, what does this all mean? Is Harry going to unveil channel a new aesthetic now he's no longer an 'other half'? Will he shave his head again? We can’t be sure. All we know is that a breakup is the perfect impetus to write new music, so their timing could be worse - because Harry is currently working on his new album.
