Two days into Winter Love Island and TikTok is busy working its magic. But while it does the important jobs of uncovering the relationship Haris Namani says he ‘never had’ and makes its predictions for the series ahead, it’s not forgotten about the stars of 2022 (hey, there’s enough room for everyone).

Second place runner up from last series, Gemma Owen – who finished the show coupled up with Luca Bish but split from the fishmonger before the year was out – has now been linked to rapper Bugzy Malone. And, while it’s unclear where precisely the rumour first started, it’s clear that social media has been working hard.

One popular Love Island commentator, Will Njobvu, who recently hosted Channel 4 documentary Life After Love Island, said that he was ‘shipping’ the potential new couple after speculation began swirling on the social media platform.

Now the reported relationship has hit the tabloids with The Sun ‘confirming’ that friends and family of both parties had given ‘their blessing’. They quote a source saying: ‘Gemma and Aaron have enjoyed a few dates over the past few weeks. They have told their closest friends they are dating and seem really happy together. They're keeping their relationship out of the public eye for now because it is early days. He is really into her and has made it clear how he feels. It is all very new and exciting for both of them, but they are taking it slowly.’

But according to Gemma herself – who today launched her first Pretty Little Thing range online – she’s perfectly happy being single and, apparently, has never even met the rapper.

‘I have never met or spoken to him and we don't follow each other on social media,’ she told Mailonline. ‘I am not dating, and I am definitely single. Just after Christmas, I had much needed time with my family and friends and I am working on myself. I am not going to date anytime soon and I'm not looking.

'On a personal level, I want to work on my happiness and investing time in people close to me, my family and friends, and just being content in myself.'
