Last night, the 2020 Emmy Awards took place with Jimmy Kimmel hosting from the Staples Centre in LA, a select few guest presenters helping him and most ofthe winners dialing in from their own homes. Needless to say, it looked a bit different than normal.
We saw the cast of Schitt’s Creek celebrating together at a socially-distanced party in Canada; we saw Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington celebrating at a New Years’ Eve Party (because, why not?); and we even saw a Friends reunion, complete with Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow.
And don’t think just because the event happened mostly virtually that there weren’t any major moments. There were political statements made via speech and via hair style; Zendaya made Emmys history; and the stars we’ve tragically lost this year, including Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Naya Rivera, were honoured during a musical performance.
