Emily Ratajkowski has called out a French magazine for Photoshopping her body on their cover.

The model posted the original, unretouched shots on Instagram along with the finished cover of Madame Figaro, and revealed in the caption that she was ‘extremely disappointed’ to see that her image had been altered. The image sees Emily posing in a black beret (French style cliché, much?) and an undone black overcoat, though in the final picture her breasts have apparently been reduced and her lips appear less full.

'Everyone is uniquely beautiful in their own ways. We all have insecurities about the things that make us different from a typical ideal of beauty. I, like so many of us, try every day to work past those insecurities. I was extremely disappointed to see my lips and breasts altered in Photoshop on this cover,’ she wrote.

She went on to call for magazines to embrace the perceived flaws that make us different, writing: ‘I hope the fashion industry will finally learn to stop trying to stifle the things that make us unique and instead begin to celebrate individuality.’

Emily is not the first celebrity to bring the media to task for presenting an altered or Photoshopped image. Back in 2015, a then 19-year-old Zendaya was widely praised for calling out Modeliste magazine when they digitally reduced the size of her waist and thighs in a photoshoot, while Kerry Washington shared her cover of Adweek on Instagram last year along with an extensive caption explaining why the image made her feel uncomfortable.

‘I was taken aback by the cover,’ she wrote. ‘I’m no stranger to Photoshopping. It happens a lot. In a way, we have become a society of picture adjusters – who doesn’t love a filter?!?’

‘Yesterday, however, I just felt weary,’ she continued. ‘It felt strange to look at a picture of myself that is so different from what I look like when I look in the mirror. It’s an unfortunate feeling.’
