While bookmakers have been betting on the name of the royal baby for months, in the 24 hours since the Duchess of Cambridge gave birth, the anticipation has been higher than ever. As the public waits for confirmation, and hopefully a nice pay out, many are convinced that Prince William has already hinted to his third child’s name.
[After Kate Middleton gave birth at 11.01am](https://graziadaily.co.uk/celebrity/news/duchess-of-cambridge-third-baby-born/by-born/) yesterday, the couple spent only a few hours alone before going out onto the infamous steps of the Lindo Wing and showing their baby to the world. While posing for pictures, they waved to the crowd and chatted amongst each other. However, eager eyes noted Prince William point to a renowned royal baby photographer, Arthur Edwards.
Edwards is a photographer for The Sun and has photographed royal babies for years, capturing Prince William’s first hours himself 35 years ago. Acknowledging him in the crowd, Prince William said, ‘There’s Arthur, there he is’. Jumping on the subtle nod, Arthur is now the most betted-on name for the royal baby.
While it may seem something of a leap, considering Prince William could have just been being polite to an acquaintance he has known for years, many are certainly convinced it was his way of letting the public in on the highly anticipated news.
Since Arthur was already in the running, and it’s certainly a traditional royal name, there is certainly a good possibility it could win out from other popular choices of James and Albert.
We’ll have to wait until tomorrow for confirmation of the big news, with a 48-hour window the normal precedent for announcing royal baby names. In the meantime, watch this space for all your latest royal news
