Chrissy Teigen Reminds Us That Stupid Internet Conspiracy Theories Have Real Victims

Chrissy Teigen has blocked a million people on Twitter. That might seem excessive when you first hear it, but really, knowing what she's up against, it isn't. Since last October, Chrissy, who has 13.1million Twitter followers, has been linked to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein{ =nofollow}, with no evidence, by conspiracy theorists. The abuse has now got so bad that she says she's 'worried for [her] family'.

'I have block chained over one million people, ONE MILLION people today and I am still flooded with sick psychopaths,' she tweeted. 'So please, spare me the “just ignore them, they’re just trolls." Anyhow I’ll do my best to stop entertaining them. They have definitely been living for this and have zeroed in on ONLY me.'

'I actually deleted 60,000 tweets because I cannot f*_ing STAND you idiots anymore and I'm worried for my family,' Chrissy tweeted, in response to a claim by podcast host Chrissie Mayr that she had been deleting old tweets. She continued: 'Finding me talking about toddlers and tiaras in 2013 and thinking you're some sort of f_ing operative.'

And Chrissy's right, whether you're in the public or not - you shouldn't have to ignore trolls when they're harassing you (and threatening you in real life). In the model's case, she would be having to ignore incredibly distressing false accusations that she travelled on Epstein's plane and was part of his 'pedo ring'. There should be consequences for online harassment. But when there isn't, and she's frightened for her family's safety - and probably worried about her own reputation being tarnished by false claims - it's no wonder she's had to block people left, right and centre, and delete old tweets.

And according to Chrissy, the trolls aren't just old, either. 'another fun thing is tik tok has 18 year olds thinking they’re CIA ops,' she added, linking to a since deleted tweet. The mum-of-two added: 'It used to be just deranged 50 somethings. Now it’s tik tok,' she wrote. 'And when nothing pans out for them with me and John{ =nofollow}, it won’t simply go away. They can’t admit they’re wrong. They’ll say every vacay I take from here on out is my mandated jail time.'

No matter what your age is, can people please refrain from making false claims on the internet?
