In the posh people crossover news we never knew we needed, Made in Chelsea’s Melissa Tattam has sensationally claimed that her boyfriend’s DMs were ‘previously’ slid into by none other than the wife of the former Prime Minister, Boris Johnson.

What a day to be alive.

The tea was spilled on the podcast she hosts with best friend and fellow MiC alumni Sophie ‘Habbs’ Haboo, Wednesdays We Drink Wine, as Habbs was quoting the often-repeated urban legend that Boris Johnson has sired so many children that he’s actually got no idea how many offspring he has (for legal purposes, it’s believed he has eight biological children).

It was then that Melissa - who broke up with long-term boyfriend Harry Baron in late 2021 before going public with her current boyfriend, Toby Watkins, in March last year – interrupted Sophie for a ‘mic drop’ moment, claiming that Mrs Carrie Johnson, née Symonds, has messaged model Toby on Instagram in the past...before swiftly deleting it.

It’s necessary to briefly deviate from the goss here to share with you Melissa’s top social media tip:

‘Just FYI guys if you ever unsend a message to someone [on Instagram] that doesn’t follow you, it will forever tell them that you’ve previously messaged, because it says “accept/decline”, but you can’t see what the message is or when it was sent or anything.’

But anyway; back to the potential love triangle between Made in Chelsea’s Melissa, her model boyfriend Toby and Boris Johnson’s wife.

While it’s unclear when exactly Carrie is alleged to have sent the message, she’s been married to Boris Johnson since the summer of 2021 after famously being the first unwed partner – or ‘girlfriend’, as she was reductively dubbed at the time - of the sitting PM to move into Downing Street in 2019. Meanwhile Melissa and Toby were broken up for a portion of last year but got back together in time for a romantic Christmas reunion. Either way, those dates simply do not add up.

Of course, it’s all tongue-in-cheek! Made in Chelsea is by its very definition a show about the uppermost echelons of London’s elite, and Carrie, educated at exclusive private school Godolphin and Latymer in Chelsea’s neighbouring London Borough, Hammersmith, and, you know, married to the former PM, definitely ticks that box. She’s also, lest we forget, just 34 years old, basically a contemporary of Melissa, Toby et al. Come to think of it, can we get Carrie on Made in Chelsea, please? Boris Johnson’s dad Stanleyhas already had a handful of cameos; surely it’s a logical next step?
