The Brits was many things this year, but the one thing we didn't expect it to be was a haven of relatable beauty moments.
Thanks to Lily Allen and Jess Glynne, the main takeaway from the awards ceremony this year that celebrities, too, do the things in the bathroom that will never, ever make it onto our Instagram grids, and on behalf of all members of the female race who have ever spent an unreasonable amount of time ripping hair out of their bikini with hot wax or peeling away false eyelashes clingier than blu-tack: we are behind it.
So exactly what were the beauty moments at the Brits? If you didn't catch the watershed beauty moments, here's what happened: Jess Glynnekicked off her performance by removing her false eyelashes to the tune of 'Thursday' while backing performers removed their own make-up in round LED-light mirrors and were projected onto the screen behind.
The singer then took off all of her make-up live during the performance with lightening speed using a face halo. ([which costs a v. relatable £7)](https://www.boots.com/face-halo-make-up-remover-pad---original---single-pack-10256321?cm_mmc=bmm-_-Google+Boots+PLAs-_-){href='https://www.boots.com/face-halo-make-up-remover-pad---original---single-pack-10256321?cm_mmc=bmm--Google+Boots+PLAs--(GB
Afterwards, Lily Allen posted an Instagram story preparing for the awards during which she filmed herself topless (save for some strategic arm-arrangement) in Spanx saying in disbelief ‘literally lightening my nipples right now' as a make-up artist applied concealer to her boobs while the caption read ‘doing absolute #brits’. In the next shot she says the make-up artist is 'literally plucking my hair out of my nipples - and I didn’t even know they were there, because I haven’t obviously looked at my nipples for so long'. We relate Lily, we really do.

Yes: if the Brits gave us one thing: it was the long-delayed public revelation that meeting incredibly stringent expectations of female beauty is HARD. And objectively quite ridiculous-as you will know, if you have ever tried to figure out how to glue tiny pieces of hair to your eyelids so that you can have the desired fluffy lashes of a particularly beautiful miniature daschund (guilty, sorry feminism). Now please could we see someone at the Oscars address the tyranny of fake tan?
