UPDATE 24/4 Britney Spears has broken her silence after checking into a mental health facility last month. Taking to Instagram, the 37-year-old told her fans in a video, ‘Hi guys, just checking in with all those that were concerned about me. All is well. My family has been going through a lot of stress and anxiety lately, so I needed time to deal but don't worry, I will be back very soon.’
The popstar also captioned the clip with a lengthy message, which accused her ex-manager of ‘writing fake emails.’ She added, ‘Wanted to say hi, because things that are being said have just gotten out of control! Wow! There’s rumors, death threats to my family and my team, and just so many things crazy things being said. I am trying to take a moment for myself, but everything that’s happening is just making it harder for me. Don’t believe everything you read and hear. These fake emails everywhere were crafted by Sam Lutfi years ago... I did not write them. He was pretending to be me and communicating with my team with a fake email address. My situation is unique, but I promise I’m doing what’s best at this moment.’
Britney Spears has checked into a mental health facility amid her father’s ongoing health battle.
Her father, Jamie, was hospitalised in January with a colon condition, which led the popstar to put her new Las Vegas residency show, Domination, on hold. At the time, shewrote on Instagram: ‘A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died. We’re all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him. I had to make the difficult decision to put my full focus and energy on my family at this time.’ According to Variety, her dad recently underwent a second surgery to fix a ruptured colon.
TMZhave now reported that she checked herself into a facility about a week ago where she will stay for a month, which has since been confirmed by Variety.
The news comes shortly after Britney shared a message on Instagram which read: 'Fall in love with taking care of yourself, mind, body, spirit'. She captioned the post: 'We all need to take time for a little 'me time.' :)'
A source told People: ‘Her dad being sick has taken a toll on her. He nearly died and actually had another surgery a few weeks ago. He’s not doing well. They’re so close and it has been a lot. There is nothing dramatic going on with her, she just realised she needs to make sure to take time to care for herself.’
In 2007, Britney checked into a psychiatric ward after a highly publicised breakdown.
