Britney Spears is ready to take back control of her own narrative. Last year it was announced that the pop sensation would be releasing a tell-all memoirafter signing a 'record breaking' publishing deal. The book was originally thought to have a January 2023 release date, but after rumoured set backs PageSix have reported that the book is finally complete and is set to 'shake the world.'
After endless speculation about the nature of her 13-year-longconservatorship Britney is finally telling her side of the story, in her own words. The inevitable bestseller will cover her rise to fame in the ’90s, her troubled relationships with her father Jamie, mother Lynn, and sister Jamie Lynn, and her history-making case with lawyer Mathew Rosengart that ultimately led to her regaining her freedom.
What is Britney Spears memoir about?
One source told PageSix, 'Britney’s book is a story of triumph. It will cover her most vulnerable moments, her childhood – being a little girl with big dreams – her break-up with Justin Timberlake, the moment she shaved her head, and her battle with her family over her conservatorship. It is also a story of survival, finding her way out of the crippling conservatorship to finding happiness with her husband Sam Ashgari.'
Spears signed the $15 million publishing deal with Simon & Schuster( which is one of the highest in history after Barack and Michelle Obama’s publishing deals,) and has been working with ghostwriter Sam Lansky - an acclaimed novelist and journalist who has has profiled stars including Madonna, Nicki Minaj and Adele.
When will Britney Spears memoir come out?
The publishers are reportedly 'thrilled' with the yet-unnamed memoir, which is now complete and going through final legal revisions. The publishing source told PageSix, 'Britney’s book is brutally honest and from the heart. No stone is left unturned. It's truly a female empowerment story – her taking control of her life.' They have also revealed that the book is set for an autumn release.
A second publishing source commented, 'This book is a gift….There are parts of this book that every person—particularly every woman—can relate to and feel less alone. She transforms joy and pain into something transcendent: art. This is an inspiring read, not only because it shows the strength of Britney’s spirit, but because her story is told with such style, wit, intelligence, honesty, and without any self-pity. She is entirely winning in these pages.' They added, 'This book will….shake the world. I believe that it will also be a groundbreaking instant bestseller.'
Spears consistently uses social media as a way to get her message across and she previously shared an insight into the contents of her book. She wrote on Instagram, 'I don’t have a family that values me or respects me …. AT ALL !!! That’s the hard part for me and as much as I loved them, it’s something that I’ll probably ever won’t be able to get over. When I post in those moments, I just want to speak from my heart cause it’s extremely hard for me and then I look back and I see how many people say get over it … I’m working on becoming stronger. Adding, 'Ps. I’ve written 3 different versions of my book and had LOTS of therapy through the process.'
Beyond rehashing all the family drama, there’s hope that Spears’s tell-all may help to transform the conservatorship system in America, which has been widely criticised following her2021 testimony.
