Angelina Jolie Apparently Wants Her Ex-Husband Back, But Is The Lure Of Brad Pitt A Figment of Our Imagination?

Sometimes, it feels like Brad Pitt has been Hollywood’s leading man/heartthrob for as long as time itself. Like, who hasn’t dated him? Think about it, the list includes Juliette Lewis, Thandie Newton, Gwyneth Paltrow- and, wait for it, even ex Simon Cowell’s Sinitta. (We’d honestly forgotten about that; they were on and off for four years!) And that’s without mentioning his two most high-profile - and most often pitted against each other - ex-wives, Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie.

Today, unsurprisingly, reports have surfaced that Angelina wants Brad back - and apparently that’s why she’s dragging out the divorce negotiations. According to The Sun, she ‘wants to win back estranged husband Brad Pitt in surprise u-turn’ with sources telling the paper that Brad isn’t all that interested in the pair becoming an item again. An insider close to the couple said, ‘Angelina has made it clear to Brad that she wants to be back in a relationship with him. She would like them to be a family again and doesn’t seem capable of moving on. That’s why she is making it so difficult for Brad with every detail of their divorce.’ Last March, Brad seemed unscathed by the divorce - withreports saying he was 'healthier and happier.'

So, here we are again, another ex falling at Brad's feet... Even though, you know, Angelina could literally run for president. Jolie, a special envoy for the United Nations' refugee agency, said in December on BBC Four that her work meant she had enough experience to take on the White House, with her saying, ‘I'm also able to work with governments, and I'm also able to work with militaries, and so I sit in a very interesting place of being able to get a lot done without a title and without it being about myself or my policies.’ (And, earlier this month, she said she still hadn't ruled it out.)

Even now, why are we all quick to assume a very powerful woman is still completely in love with Mr Pitt? It's almost needless to say that Jennifer Aniston has been haunted for years by the ‘Poor Jen’ narrative, following her split from Brad when he met Jolie on the set of Mr & Mrs Smith. And a lot more recently, earlier this year Jen proceeded to send the rumour mill into meltdown when she was seen at Brad’s 50th birthday party. Especially when the pair, as Grazia reports, are just working together.

But then again, Brad must have his charms. Gwyneth Paltrow heavily hinted in 2015 interview that Brad was the one who got away, saying about their break up, ''You can't make that decision when you're 22 years old... I wasn't ready, and he was too good for me. I didn't know what I was doing.' So maybe we just shouldn't assume that all these (powerful) women want Brad back - until they actually say it.
