Adele has just been named as the richest female musician in the UK, with a personal fortune of £85 million. Looks like she can definitely afford to upgrade from that retro flip-top phone, then.

The Sunday Times Rich List ranked the singer 30th in a list of the UK and Ireland’s top 50 millionaire musicians, and revealed that her earnings have jumped by £35 million since last year. Talk about a pay rise.

For the fifth year in a row, the 27-year-old has also topped the young musicians’ rich list of stars under 30. In second place comes Ed Sheeran, with a fortune of £45 million.

The main list is dominated by older stars like Sir Paul McCartney, who sits in first place with a fortune of £760 million, Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber (whose musical empire brings in £715 million) and Sir Elton John.

Adele can most likely thank her third studio album 25 - and the accompanying world tour - for this huge leap in her earnings. On its release late last year, it became the UK's biggest selling number one album in chart history, and has so far sold over 15 million copies worldwide.

Commenting on Adele's meteoric rise through the ranks of the Rich List, editor Ian Coxton said, 'Adele is only 27 so I would see her getting in the main list of the richest 1,000 in a couple of years - she is only £15 to £20 million away now.'

While she may be rich beyond our wildest dreams, it seems that fame and fortune still haven't gone to the singer's head - she's as self-deprecating as ever in interviews, and even stopped a recent concert to pose for a selfie with a 'lookalike' fan. Never change, Adele.

The Sunday Times Rich List will be published in full this Sunday.
