As well as having an incredible voice, a wicked sense of humour and an infectious laugh – Adele is the queen of the feline flick. Whether it’s on the red carpet, going ‘out out’ or on her social media feed – we can’t help but be drawn to that perfectly applied cat-eye liner.

Thankfully for us, make-up artist and beauty blogger Lisa Eldridge invited Adele’s make-up artist of 12 years, Michael Ashton, to her YouTube channelto show the world exactly how he applies the Hello singer's war-paint.

The New-Zealand born make-up whizz swears by the Bobbi Brown Longwear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink, £18.50 and the MAC Eyeliner Brush 209, £16.50 for achieving that enviable eye liner. Apply the ink to the back of your hand and let the product dry out slightly to make it 'more workable.' Next, don't worry about the shape too much and just focus on getting enough inky black product on the lash line, right into the root of the lashes.

For Adele's signature feline flick, Ashton recommends applying pressure with the eyeliner brush to drag the gel upwards at a 45-degree angle towards your temple. He uses the brush to sharpen the line, whilst taking the pressure off so you get ‘a softer line’.

'If you have made a mistake or it needs to be sharper, I always have Bioderma water handy and cotton tips,' he says (try Muji Thin Cotton Buds, £3.50 for 200, made from 100% cotton and zero plastic). To complete the cat eye, Ashton applies false eyelashes and a touch of mascara.

Top trick? Use a reflective copper coloured eye shadow to add depth to your liner.
