Is This New Body Butter Really A Dupe For The Amazing Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Cream?

It's just £8 – but is it as good as TikTok says?

Nothing can sway me from my trusty Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Cream, £48. I'm a Bum Bum loyalist who can often be found slathering copious amounts of its creamy goodness over my freshly showered skin. Granted, I once believed it was a moisturiser intended for the tush, but since getting over that brilliant word play (it's 'boom boom', not 'bum bum') it's been a staple I've come to rely on.

And I'm not alone. On TikTok, Sol de Janeiro's masterpiece is an enduring social media sensation, having amassed over two million views and counting. To flout its ego further, the body nourisher is deemed a celebrity go-to and has been duped by the likes of Aldi and Home Bargains, which offer up affordable alternatives to the cult classic. But according to TikTok, there's a new dupe on the horizon.

M&S Beauty's latest own-brand Burst Bodycare collection boasts a line up of body scrubs, shower gels, hand washes, and hand lotions, all available in five delectable scents - Shea, Orange, Mango, Melon and Cherry – and at its centre lies the main event: the Body Butters. Clinically proven to provide 96 hours of hydration, these mood-boosters are set to be a high street go-to. In fact, M&S reports since launching Burst Bodycare two weeks ago, the Mango Body Butter has already become the best selling product from the range. And, according to TikTok, if you've fallen out of favour with Sol de Janeiro's high price point, M&S's Mango Body Butter may be a worthy consideration.

The Burst Bodycare Mango Body Butter is for starters a fraction of the cost, priced at a reasonable £8. This is a product that won't necessarily hurt your pocket when it's time to restock. Better yet, it is made with 98% natural ingredients, like mango seed butter, jojoba and candelilla, and its thick texture scents the skin with an addictive blend of papaya and musk.

It is of course only partially comparable to the original, which has established itself as an industry icon. There's its gourmand, 'sunshine in a jar' signature Cheirosa '62 scent and carefully blended formula, packed with antioxidant-rich açaí oil, hydrating cupuaçu butter, and caffeine-packed guaraná extract to thank for that. That said, at £48 a pop, it's by no means cheap, and it wouldn't be a bad idea to pick up a tub of M&S's Body Butter while you're shopping for your next Colin the Caterpillar.
