Luxury fashion, beauty and fragrance house, Chanel, has just announced French actress, musician, and environmentalist, Marion Cotillard as the new face of the iconic N°5 fragrance. Here, in an exclusive preview of the new campaign, Cotillard shares her journey to discovering the cult fragrance and why she adores the scent. ‘It’s more than a perfume, it’s a work of art,’ says Marion on N°5.
Released in the early 1920’s, Chanel N°5 is one of the most iconic fragrances of all time. Loved by Hollywood’s greatest including Marilyn Monroe (who famously spritzed it on before bed), Nicole Kidman and Catherine Deneuve, the popularity of the sparkly floral fragrance is unparalleled.
And now, the latest star to champion the fragrance, Marion Cotillard is unveiled as the face for the new chapter of N°5 in Cotillard’s first ever fragrance campaign. A truly perfect match, Cotillard is an icon herself with a career that has seen her take on starring role after starring role where she has picked up an Oscar, a BAFTA and a Golden Globe along the way.
Sharing her adoration for the fragrance, the actress shares her journey to discovering N°5 in a behind the scenes video for the fragrance campaign below. 'When I was a teenager, my grandma gave me Coco. So, I wore it. I always thought that N°5 was inaccessible. When I smelled it for the first time as a teenager, I wanted to be a woman who could wear N°5.'
On being the new face of the scent, Cotillard says: 'I feel very lucky to be able to continue to keep alive the history of this mythical perfume. It's so powerful.'
