A facial spritz is just the ticket for the hot summer months when your skin in need of a pick-me-up. Loved for their instant ability to cool and refresh skin, keep one nearby for those sunny strolls, or for that afternoon slump when you want to feel revived. A little like Fanta Lemon on a sandy beach, these water-based sprays quench your skin's thirst, keep you cool and will have you going back for more. Lots more.

Popular among the celebrity circuit, model Kaia Gerber recently shared her love for a facial mist in a beauty video for Vogue. 'Before I do make-up, this is something I picked up from make-up artists, they were are always spraying this on my face,' she says during the tutorial. 'And it is this Caudalie face spray. The eau de beauté [Beauty Elixir] reminds me of being back in the make-up chair!'

The latest formulas to hit the market boast a multitude of skincare benefits. From added SPF to skin brightening vitamin C, you can pick your spray depending on your skincare needs. Dr Justine Hextall, Cosmetic Dermatologist, recommends La Roche-Posay’s Toleriane Ultra 8 Mist, £19.50, as a great accompaniment to a hyaluronic acid (HA) to help trap moisture into the skin. Top tip? Experts agree that a facial mist should always be applied before HA as it’s a moisture magnet and responds best to water.

‘A hydrating mist can be applied at any point of the day,’ says Hextall, ‘a spritz in the morning to trap hydration, or later in the day when skin starts to feel dry and irritated. Applying a spray at the end of the day will also perk up tired skin and refresh make-up.’

So, whether you want an extra dose of hydration or some skin-protective antioxidants, we’ve whittled down the most hard-working facial mists out there so you can take your pick…
