Celebrity beauty just got big time. A-listers the world over have begun jumping headfirst into the beauty industry, truly getting stuck into their creations and we can't get enough. Take Dolly Parton, for example. Parton just unveiled the release of her hotly anticipated fragrance, called Dolly Scent From Above (iconic or what?), in a commercial during the Super Bowl.
‘I’ve been lucky enough in my lifetime to see a lot of my dreams come true. Getting to share my perfume with the world is another one that I can now add to the list,’ she told WWD. ‘I have often said that if you want to see your dreams come true, you have to give them wings, and I truly believe this one is scent from above.’
The crystal cube with a butterfly cap is set to launch this summer, but if you just can’t wait - you can order a $10 sample-sized bottle over on dollyfragrance.com now.
In launching Dolly Scent From Above, Parton is following in the footsteps of a long list of celebrities who have all added beauty entrepreneur to their bio. Rihanna launched Fenty back in 2017, fairly recently, and yet now it's hard to imagine the world without it. Fenty pushed the boundaries in beauty. It made beauty inclusive, widening shade ranges, playing with textures, you name it, and last year it ventured into skincare to huge digital applause (get the lowdown on the full Fenty Skin range here).
Victoria Beckham too launched her eponymous beauty line in the Autumn of 2019 and those who anticipated a flimsy range of seen-it-all-before type make-up buys had to quickly reassess . VB went ALL in. Having formed a firm friendship with beauty industry legent Sarah Creal during a collaboration with Estée Lauder, the two hatched a plan for a beauty line that prioritised quality over everything else. They debuted with a capsule collection of eyeshadow palettes, a now-cult-status lip tint, shadows, the lot, before turning their attention to skincare, whereupon they sparked a mind-blowing partnership with skincare legend Augustinus Bader. A mere few months later and Victoria Beckham Beauty is a lusted-over luxury make-up and skincare line that sends beauty obsessives into a spin with every launch.
When you add the likes of Jessica Alba's Honest Beauty line, Drew Barrymore's Flower Beauty make-up range, Lady Gaga's Haus Labs line, Millie Bobby Brown's Florence By Mills beauty collection and of course the Kardashian contingent's input, you suddenly have a steady flow of celebrity beauty buys that are well worth taking notice of. But - like with all beauty brands - it's quite easy to be overwhelmed by what's on offer, so we decided to take all the guess work out of celebrity beauty shopping and single out our absolute favourite from each celebrity founded beauty range. Here's the deal...

Dolly Parton Scent From Above Sample, $10
Finally! A celebrity fragrance we can really get excited about. Dolly Parton's Scent From Above is set to launch this summer, but if you can't wait - you can order a sample size online now. What to expect? BIG things of course, think a fruity, floral opening that soon dries down to a warm, musky base. D.i.v.i.n.e.
Fenty Fat Water Pore Refining Toner Serum, £25
This toner is SO much more than a toner. It's a cross between a toner and a serum and the consistency is mid-way between a water and a gel, hence the 'fat water' label. It brightens, smooths and keeps skin hydrated with a healthy dose of hyaluronic acid.
Victoria Beckham by Augustinus Bader Cell Rejuvenating Priming Moisturizer in Golden 30ml, £92
This is a seriously techy moisturizer that's imbibed with a sheer, universally flattering hint of golden. Applied to skin it smooths and bestows a golden-hour-worthy glow that looks great on its own and gives skin a serious boost under make-up. It's pricey but, as far as we beauty obsessives are concerned, it's well worth the splurge.
Honest Beauty Magic Beauty Balm, £16
You can always rely on Jessica Alba's beauty range Honest Beauty to serve up quality products that seriously serve a purpose. The Magic Beauty Balm blends together fruit and botanical oils to make an all-purpose balm that nourishes without using any nasties. It's great used as a lip balm, a cutlicle oil and a subtle highlighter.
Florence By Mills Cheek Me Later Cream Blush, £14
You've got to hand it to Millie Bobby Brown - she's 16 years old and already a world-renowned star (of Stranger Things fame) and has a whole beauty line to her name. One of our favourite Florence by Mills products? The Cheek Me Later Cream Blush. It's subtle, dewy and a dream to apply. Blend across cheeks with your fingertips and pat onto your lips too for a dose of natural-looking beauty.
Flower Beauty Light Illusion Concealer, £8.99
Drew Barrymore is the A-list celebrity behind much-loved beauty brand Flower Beauty and we're fairly obsessed with the range's concealer. The texture is super light and creamy, which makes it perfect for applying under the eyes. It's a real budget-friendly buy too.
Haus Labratories by Lady Gaga Glam Room Palette, £33
As if Lady Gaga wasn't going to have a finger in the beauty pie. Can we get a round of applause for her Haus Labs Glam Room Palette please? That combination of shades is just breath-taking. Add in the fact that the pigment pay-off is eye-popping and that singular square of matte black allows you to shade on sultry definition without reaching for an eyeliner and you have one of our must-have palettes of the year, full stop.
Fenty Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Bronzer, £28
Fenty's Cheeks Out Cream Bronzer was one of it's biggest crowd-pleasers when it launched and the enthusiasm for this multi-tasking product is still as fervent as ever. Use it to sculpt, add a sun-kissed glow or even as an eyeshadow.
Victoria Beckham Beauty Bitten Lip Tint, £32
Many were puzzled when Victoria Beckham launched one lip tint and one lip tint alone. The sheer, glossed, berry-toned product is gorgeous worn on its own, but goes the extra mile when it's paired with a lip liner - seemingly how VB works her own lip look - changing up her lip colour via her lip liner, not her lip tint, who knew?!
Kylie Velvet Lip Kit in Bare, £20.55
We couldn't talk celebrity beauty without mentioning Kylie Jenner's Lip Kits. There's a serious range of colours here and more than anything they're pretty much a piece of beauty history - remember the global stampede to buy them when they launched? You'll have to order from the US but if you're keen to try they're worth the wait.
