If you've managed to resist the temptation of a glitter laden naillook thus far, we have one question - how? This time of year has a way of getting us in the experimental manicure spirit and our For You pages have a good deal to do with it. A few scrolls and you'll find yourself in the thick of festive white and gold French tips, sparkly stick-ons and even Santa hat nails - don't knock it until you've seen an achingly cute example.
Holly Willoughby just served up someserious Christmas nail inspiration too, when she posted a shot of her shimmering crimson manicure, which matched her LK Bennet dress to a tee. Holly's Christmas-ready manicure is the work of her go-to nail artist, Ann Rose of Ann Nails London, who kept things clean and short and let the polish do all the talking.
Ann opted for Bio Sculpture's Gemini Nourishing Nail Polish in Moulin Rouge, £12, to create the look. The deep cherry red polish features finely milled gold glitter that catches the light beautifully. The polish itself is long-lasting and protective.
But why red you ask? 'There’s no other shade that can put you in the festive spirit like a red manicure can,' says Amanda Lee owner and founder of nail bar Iris Avenue. 'Christmas makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside, with poinsettias and holly berries around. Romantic red manicures gives us the same feels, making it the go-to colour of the season.'
Made with an odourless, safe and non-toxic formula, the strong but flexible lacquer is as chip-resistant as they come and hardy enough to protect your nails as they grow. Ask for a gel version of the shade in-salon or pick up this regular polish option if you want to emulate Holly's festive manicure.
