There has never been a better time to go on the Zara website. Between the party dresses (need), chandelier earrings (need, need) and chunky knits (need, need, need) there’s now a range of ‘long-lasting’ lipsticks inspired by Pat McGrath dropping on site in 48-hours.
This Wednesday, Zara will be following in the footsteps of Topshop and ASOS by dropping its first beauty range. Though they’ve already won us over with the scents (yes, #1 collogne smells remarkably like Le Labo’s cult Santal 33) this is the first time they’ve dabbled in lippy.
By and large, the range veers towards the occasionwear end of the colour spectrum. There is a terracotta, a tawny bronze and a dusky rose, which account for the subtle shades on offer. Meanwhile, for those looking for instant drama, a pillar-box red resembles M.A.C’s famous Ruby Woo and a creamy lilac shade looks like it belongs in Fenty’s next beauty campaign. In particular, a striking orange coral and a plummy red look warm on first swipe but are ready to build for a wham bam impact.
Back to the important details. There are 12 lipsticks (£9.99 each) in the collection - all are matte and velvety with a deep colour wash. Having swiped a couple on and off I can tell you, the pigment stays put. Though, I would still be cautious testing any of the creamier shades with the mistletoe test. A further eight liquid lipsticks are also making their debut this month along with the lipsticks on December 5th exclusively at zara.com.
