As fashion week comes to a close, it would not be complete without an appearance from Ireland's very own Nicola Coughlan. Despite the many A-list appearances cropping up over the catwalk, she has stolen the make-up show at Miu Miu in Paris with a decidedly 60s inspired look created by make-up artist Neil Young. And there is so much to love about it: from the carved out crease to the peachy glossed lips, this is a look that'll be lusted over long past fashion season.
Young used a selection of Pat McGrath products to create the look, so if you're wondering what he used to create that dazzling eyeshadow, you're in luck. 'I blended the Skin Fetish Concealer lightly over the lid to create a base. Using the Mothership I Palette, £120, I blended the shadow in Astral White over the lid, and softened it into crease. Using an angled brush, I took the Depth eyeshadow and drew a crease directly above the natural crease of the eye.'
As for the inky black eyeliner? It can only be the same one used to create Adele's very own signature wings, the Perma Precision Liquid Liner, £25. With a flexible tip and ergonomic handle, this pen liner is apparently the ticket to a Twiggy (Adele) esque eye.
But, of course, Nicola can do both liner and no liner. Take her front row London Fashion Week appearance at the Richard Quinn show back in 2020 for example.
She might have been kitted out in a show stopping floral Quinn look, but it was the smoky bright eyeshadow and glossy fuchsia lip that turned our beauty obsessed heads. Again, make-up artist Neil Young created the punchy, bold look, and celebrity hair stylist Patrick Wilson styled in her in the slicked back ponytail using Hair by Sam McKnight Styling Mist.
Earlier, proving that she's not afraid to colour block Nicola attended the recent BAFTA TV Awards 2021 and wowed in her tangerine Valentino dress, which she paired with a vibrant blue smoky eye courtesy (again) of Neil Young. Now set to be this summer's hottest make-up trend, Young used two peacock blue hues from the Lancôme Hypnôse Palette in Bleu Hypnôtique, £42.50, to create the look. As Nicola proves, the palette is pigment-rich with impressive colour payoff that stays put all night long. To keep all eyes on the eyes, Young kept the lips neutral with a slick of [L’Absolu Gloss Sheer in 222 Beige Muse, £24.50](http://L’Absolu Gloss Sheer in 222 Beige Muse, £24.50.).
Prior to the BAFTA TV Awards, it was Nicola's beautiful matte red lip for the Costume Designers Guild Awards that stole our attention. For this Neil created the lip look and called upon MAC Cosmetics Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour in Feels So Grand, £19. This particular lacquer is matte, lightweight and long-lasting, making it the perfect statement lip to wear under a face mask without fear of it smudging underneath. The universally flattering blue undertones of this particular red shade mean it looks great on most skin tones too.
Then take the Golden Globes. While a large proportion of the US contingent made it to Hollywood to attend the ceremony IRL it was Nicola's stunning at-home makeup look that instantly dominated the Golden Globes makeup game in our eyes. What's not to love?! Neon pink eyeshadow diffused seamlessly from the her highly pigmented upper lash line to the misty wash just under her brow bone, brushed-up brows, glowing skin, glossed lips and hair grips that match Nicola's eyes. Cue a mental standing ovation.

Spotting a theme? It was Neil Young who was once again responsible for this game-changer of a make-up look. Nicola took to Instagram to rave about her Golden Globes look, captioning her pictures '#GoldenGlobes from home, but make it a moment.' Neil has worked on Nicola's makeup numerous times throughout the last few months and Nicola's eye-catching makeup look is a prime example of his world-renowned talent and, fresh from Bridgerton fame, Nicola is definitely one to watch in when it comes to beauty trends. As for the hair? We have hair guru and celebrity hair stylist Halley Brisker to thank for Nicola's gorgeously undone do and hair grip wizardry.
Makeup Guru Neil Young On Creating This Neon Pink Look For Nicola Coughlan
'It’s always fun and an absolute pleasure to work with Nicola as she loves makeup and experimenting. Once the dress was chosen, I talked through several ideas for makeup. I knew I wanted pink to balance the dress and Nicola loved the idea of a bold pink eye.'

'When it came to the skin prep I decided to warm up Nicola's complexion with a little MAC Studio Face and Body Foundation, £27, to give the skin a healthy natural glow against the lemon dress. I then perfected the skin usingClé de Peau Beauté Radiant Fluid Foundation, £110, where needed. When wearing a bold colour like neon pink, it’s important to let it lead on the face by keeping the other features pulled back. For the eyes I used Kryolan Neon Pink Aqua Colour, £24.99, as a base from lash to crease and buffed out the edges using MAC Cosmetics Neon Pink Pigment Powder, £17.50. Pale eyes need lots of mascara when wearing pink so I added several coats of Givenchy Volume Disturbia Mascara in Black, £23.50. I shaped the face softly with a touch of NARS Matte Bronzing Powder, £31. To add luminosity to Nicola's complexion I used Becca Skin Love Glow Glaze Stick, £24. The lips are Givenchy Le Rose Perfecto Liquid Balm in 001 Perfect Pink, £32.50.' - Neil Young.
Nicola's neon pink Golden Globes makeup look also speaks to the actress' love of beauty and penchant for creativity. It takes a makeup lover and an artistic mind to hear 'neon pink eyes?' from her makeup artist and say 'sure!'. Needless to say Miss Nicola Coughlan is one to watch in the beauty stakes. Then there's the SAG Awards 2021, which paved the way for Nichola Coughlan to try an all-out vamped up look. We're obsessed. Nichola's go-to make-up artist Neil Young was, of course, the mastermind behind this sultry make-up look and kindly took to Instagram to decode it:
What's not to love about this look? We're head over heels for Nicola's luminous complexion here, her perfectly groomed brows and that deep red lip. Neil's Instagram caption read: 'Makeup me using @iconic.london Products used - Seamless Concealer, Illuminator in Champagne Shimmer, Ultimate Bronzing Powder, Sheer Blush in Rose Riot, Triple Threat Mascara, Nice to Naughty Palette, Lip Oil in Sugar Mama, Sculpt and Boost Eyebrow Cushion, Brow Silk.' Let's talk about that blusher. It's not easy to wear blusher alongside a statement lip, many of us wouldn't even attempt it! But there's something ethereal about that barely-there diffused veil of blush that we're itching to try and emulate ourselves.
So, how is it done? Neil writes, 'To create dimension to the face, we sculpted and contoured using Ultimate Bronzing Powder. For radiance, Sheer Blush in Rose Riot was applied to the apples of the cheeks, blending into the bronzer for a seamless finish.' Mystery solved.Iconic London's Sheer Blush in Rose Riot, £17.90, is a beauty team favourite. Dot the tiniest amount on your cheeks (less is very much more, you can always build up layers for a deeper colour) and blend across your cheeks either with fingertips or a fluffy brush.
