Kim Kardashian’s Make-Up Artist Just Responded To Those Met Gala Memes And The Result Is Hilarious

Make-up, you say? Yes, Kim really was wearing a full face of it under that mask

Kim Kardashian's Met Gala look

If you’ve been keeping up to speed with this year’s Met Gala looks, you’re bound to have seen Kim Kardashian’s. Her black, head-to-toe Balenciaga ensemble reached far and wide on social media.

It was only natural for fans of Mario Dedivanovic (Kim’s long-term makeup artist) to be disappointed, after all he has served up some seriously iconic Met Gala make-up looks in previous years (including the iconic ‘blingy sexy robot’ inspired look at the 2016 Met Gala). Why should this year’s Gala be an exception? Why wasn't his lauded make-up prowess allowed to shine on the pink carpet once more?

Well, it tuns out he was still very much part of Kim's glam squad on the day, even if his work remained hidden. Did he tone things down? Did hold back? Of course not. It’s Mario Dedivanovic: a full glam look - mask or no mask - was inevitable. Here’s a glimpse at what was hiding underneath…

Mario opted for a fanned out, feline smoky eye for Kim (complete with an inky black winged liner). Her cheeks – and we expect no less from the queen of contour herself – were also contoured with expert precision.

From the looks of his Instagram feed he was using his own Makeup By Mario Master Mattes Eyeshadow Palette. The palette features a rainbow of 12 warm shades, ranging from a milky café au lait to a deep mahogany. The texture is buttery, the finish matte and opaque. If you simply can't get your head around Kim wearing a full face of expertly applied make-up under an opaque mask then you're not alone. The memes have been out in full force. Thankfully, Mario has taken them all in good humour (and even joined in by re-posting a few of his favourites).

We’re just happy to have gotten a peek at Mario’s work that night. Already hooked on the Make-Up By Mario range? Shop a few of our favourite buys below:
