The Met Gala was the talk of New York – and social media – last night, with a cluster of A-list and Gen-Z stars stealing the show. The theme, ‘In America: A Lexicon of Fashion’, is an homage to modern American style.
Amongst them was Emma Chamberlain, the 20-year-old social media sensation, who stunned with her contemporary mermaid-like ensemble by Louis Vuitton. But the winning complimentary touch was the makeup: an iridescent lid and smoky-eyed finish. Is the look we should all be aiming to perfect over the coming months?
A statement shade selection if ever there was one. Try washing shade Scylla over a smoky lid to add an iridescent accent.
LA-based makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan Fisher was in charge of Emma's makeup, other clients include Jessica Alba and Lucy Hale. Kelsey shared a snapshot of the products she used for Emma’s iridescent look, namely Byredo’s Syren Eyeshadow Palette, £56. Emma’s turquoise accents are down to shade Scylla.
The five shades included in the product range from silver-gold, ultra-violet, denim blue, neon-chartreuse, and light pink. Each is metallic, leaving a soft glitter finish on the lid. For Emma’s gem-encrusted ensemble, there was no better match. The shades feature intense pigment and a long-lasting, easy-to-blend texture.
Byredo, the cult European luxury brand, made a name for itself with iconic scents and candles and is now firmly embedded in the makeup world, too. Kelsey also shared a range of Byredo lipsticks used on Emma – which start at £26. Here's hoping we get a beauty tutorial for the perfect accented smoky eye...
Then there was Emily Blunt, who hardly needs an introduction. The starlet wore an ethereal Prada gown, complete with layers of sheer fabric and a structured pearl cape. Her makeup aligned with this aesthetic, embodying the light glitter that Blunt wore.
For the look, makeup artist Jenn Streicher used Chantecaille, a cruelty-free, botanically based beauty brand. She used the Pangolin Luminescent Eye Shade – a dusky lilac hue – and dabbled bits of glitter onto Blunt’s lids to complete the look.
