The New £28 Fenty Setting Spray Makes A Lot Of Claims, So I Put It To The Test

How does it match up to its competitors?

I never realised the importance of a good setting sprayuntil I came home from a night out, looked in the mirror, and saw that all the make-up around my nose had completely disappeared. I shudder just thinking about it. But as the saying goes, those who don’t listen must feel, right? For years, setting spray felt like an unnecessary extra step in my routine- until my ignorance finally caught up with me. Now, spritzing before leaving the house has become second nature.

Fenty You Mist Makeup-extending Setting Spray

Since my setting spray epiphany, I’ve tried my fair share of contenders, but only a select few have truly impressed me. In my personal hall of fame is the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray, Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray, Kryolan Setting Spray and L’Oreal Paris Infallible 3-Second Setting Spray - all products that actually deliver on their promises. So, when I heard about the new Fenty You Mist, I had to find out if it could hold its own against these legends. And what better way to try it out than at a party?

Time: 4pm - final spritz before leaving

First impressions? The fine mist is impressive - it delivers a light, even spritz without soaking your face or disturbing your make-up. I used it both before and after applying my make-up and, as you can probably tell, I like using a lot of product. The formula, however, really shines when it comes to melting everything together. Powders instantly disappear into the skin, leaving a smooth, natural finish that feels fresh and lightweight. It also doesn't really have much of a smell, which I prefer over anything that is too overpowering.

Time: 8pm - makeup still looks seamless

That said, while it works wonders for creating a seamless, skin-like effect, it doesn’t provide the all-day staying power of some of my favourite products. As the night got hotter, I found my T-zone got slightly oily and the make-up did transfer slightly. It did, ultimately, give me a dewy, 'second-skin' look very comparable to Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray.

Time: 12 am - makeup gets slightly oily

Overall, though, this spritz earns its place in my rotation. While it’s not the best for longevity in hot environments, it’s an excellent choice for those who love a soft, dewy finish on casual days. For extra staying power, I’d recommend pairing it with the Kryolan Setting Spray or L’Oreal Paris Infallible 3-Second Setting Spray - both offer a stronger, 'hairspray-like' hold, though they don’t smooth your make-up as seamlessly as Fenty’s formula.

At £28, it’s not the most budget-friendly option, but if you’re a Fenty fan or looking for a product that blurs, melts, and eases off the powdery look, it’s worth considering. Will I be using it again? Absolutely.
