Those who know and love the Fenty franchise will likely tell you it is their one-stop shop for inclusive make-up staples, quick-plumping skin products and, as of June 2024, game-changing haircare for every single hair type and age group. But eagle eyed fans have always noticed one specific product missing from Fenty Land's almost pristine line up: lip liner. This week Fenty Beauty finally completed its lip collection with the long awaited essential. We tested Fenty Beauty's Trace'd Out Pencil Lip Liner, £19, and let's just say they were absolutely worth the wait.
They are creamy and ultra-blendable, ensuring they glide onto lips with ease with a soft velvet-matte finish. And the shade range? The assortment includes 10 universally-flattering shades that are suited to all skin tones and lip tones, covering neutrals, reds, browns and berries. As with all of Fenty Beauty's offerings, shades and pigment was an important consideration. So much so, unlike most lip liners that are built on a white base, Fenty's was formulated with pure pigment to minimise any visible white or ashy cast and ensure a rich colour pay off that reads true on every complexion.
Perhaps most perplexing (in the best way possible), is its staying power. When Fenty Beauty says eight hour wear, it isn't lying – I swatched multiple shades on the back of my hand the morning the liners first arrived on the Grazia beauty desk and it's safe to say the swatches stayed put until the end of the day, despite washing my hands multiple times. That's all down to its waterproof, transfer-resistant formula, which ensures zero smudging and feathering once your liner is locked in place.
The launch is testament to the brand's community-led approach. On Instagram, Fenty Beauty revealed the liners came as a response to countless comments from followers pleading for a drop. One comment read, 'Fenty is trolling us they keep dropping new sh*t except for the thing we actually all want the most...lip liner'. Another said, 'I know y'all got lip liner, y'all not fooling me. Put. It. Out'.
As with most things in life, good things take time and Fenty Beauty's Trace'd Out Pencil Lip Liners are proof in the pudding. But Fenty didn't stop at liners, it has also simultaneously launched the Gloss Bomb Stix High-Shine Gloss Stick, £23, which boasts the care and comfort of a balm, colour of a lipstick and the shine of a gloss.

Sameeha Shaikh, beauty writer, says, 'If you want a liner that truly lasts, look no further (seriously). Line, define and fill lips with this creamy, longwear liner that will stay in place for 8 hours straight, sans smudging or feathering. I used the liner in Extra Thigh and the Gloss Bomb Stix in Sorta $elfish, which saw me through a busy working day and and after work dinner. The stunning, nineties brown lip, bullet-proof combo is without a doubt my new go-to.'

Renee Washington, fashion & beauty assistant, says, 'I may be a beauty girl, but one thing I can admit to is never actually using a lip liner. I know, very rogue of me. I often resort to using a trusty eyebrow pencil because I’ve never found a chocolatey liner that actually delivers—until this one. I love an ombre lip - dark around the outside and pinky nude in the centre and my liner of choice has to be I Woodn’t. It’s creamy, it’s rich, and it doesn’t budge. Paired with the Blaz’d Donut Gloss Bomb Stix and a clear gloss, it makes for an elite combo. I won’t be changing until further notice.'

Verity Clark, acting beauty director, says, 'The Fenty Gloss Bomb range is one of my absolute favourite lip ranges, I don't know what Rihanna does to her formulas but wow she has a knack for making lips look good. Her fans have been begging for a liner for a while and she's finally delivered, and boy has she delivered. If you swerve lip liners for fear they will drag, feel chalky and give you a harsh outline then halt your assumptions because the new Fenty lip liners do none of the above. They feel more like a lip crayon to use; creamy, soft and easy to manoeuvre. I love a bold red lip and used shade The Mvp to line my lips, it's fairly thick on application so I actually ended up using it all over my lips - you could definitely get away with wearing this on its own - and then I went over the top with the Gloss Bomb Stix in The Mvp because you've got to commit to a full red lip look, right? Mwah!'
