If you've been keeping up with the royal Caribbean tour - the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are visiting a number of Commonwealth countries to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee - you'll have no doubt had your eyes trained on Kate's 'tourdrobe'. From the blue Jenny Packham ensemble Kate wore to touch down in Philip S. W Goldson International Airport in Belize City on Saturday, to the shimmering pink gown by The Vampire's Wife she wore to attend a reception hosted by the Governor General of Belize earlier this week, Kate has pulled out all the stops and her hair and beauty offerings are no exception either.
On day tree of the tour Kate put her signature bouncy blow-dry to bed and instead opted for a Gen-Z inspired look to match her pink The Vampire's Wife dress. The Duchess swapped her well-known side parting for a precision centre one, tucking the side sections of her hair behind her ears for a sleek finish.
it gives the illusion of lifted features
Yesterday Kate wore a ponytail, and a strategically placed one at that. 'Ponytails can say a lot about your character,' says award-winning hair stylist Luke Hersheson, 'wear them high and on top of your head and you'll look girly, low and loose can look more androgynous.' As for Kate's mid-height ponytail? 'It sits in line with the tops of her ears, it's not high, it's not low.'
Luke notes that the height of her ponytail does something for the Duchess' features too, 'Her hair is pulled back from her face in almost a straight line, it's not styled up towards the crown of her head, nor is it dragged down towards her neck. Pulling your hair straight back and fixing your ponytail at the same height is a really flattering way to wear your hair because it gives the illusion of lifted features.' Duly noted.
