Those who own a Dyson hair tool will likely tell you they couldn’t live without it. Far from being an exaggeration, Dyson's curling Airwrap and smoothing Airstrait have transformed the way a generation styles their hair. These days, you no longer need a salon appointment to achieve a salon-worthy blow-dry. That sky-high volume or high-shine sleekness can now be created from the comfort of your own home. The only requirement? A Dyson, of course.
Now, Dyson devotees can rejoice once more, as the brand has just unveiled a new addition to its roster. This time? It's in the form of a hair oil. While this may sound decidedly underwhelming, I'd be inclined to disagree. I’ve been testing it for the past few weeks- and I have thoughts.
What does the Dyson Omega Hydrating Hair Oil do?
Designed to create stronger, more radiant hair, the Dyson Omega Hydrating Hair Oil has been expertly blended with sunflower seed oil grown and cultivated on Dyson farms. Its MO? To protect against damage reduce frizz and leave behind a 'brilliant, high shine finish.' Made with Dyson's core ingredient (the Dyson Oli7 blend) there's a combination of seven omega-rich oils to deliver serious nourishment and shine - all without silicones which have the potential to weigh down the hair. And then there's the addition of heat protectant - up to to 230°C. Combine this nifty oil with your heat styling and you'll be on your way to style that lasts considerably longer. Healthier strands = a better 'do.

Rachael Martin beauty director says: 'Surprisingly, I’ve even started carrying the oil in my bag and using it on the go- something I never thought I’d do. It’s so lightweight, yet incredibly effective at refreshing and adding shine. I walk into work wearing over-the-head headphones, which, while practical, do make me sweat. So imagine my delight when I realised this oil stops my hair from going "poof" en route to work. I simply use a tiny amount- genuinely, the size of a freckle- and pat it across my hairline. It’s just enough to smooth, shine, and tame frizz. Thanks to its infusion of nourishing oils, it’s made a noticeable difference to my humidity-prone hair.'

How To Use The Dyson Omega Hydrating Hair Oil
The Dyson Omega Hydrating Hair Oil can be used on both wet and dry hair. Dyson recommend the below:
On damp hair: Dispense 1-2 drops into the palm. Warm between hands and apply evenly through damp hair, before styling, to lock in 48-hour frizz control and heat protection.
On dry hair: Dispense 1-2 drops of oil into the palm. Warm between hands, then smooth or scrunch through the mid-lengths and ends, adding more as needed, for instantly smoother, shinier hair.

Our Verdict
Rachael Martin beauty director says:
'I naturally have quite greasy hair - it looks its best when I wash it daily. No day two hair for me. So, when it comes to oils, I tend to proceed with caution. With this one, however, I needn’t have worried. After washing my hair, I take about half a drop (less than the recommended 1–2 drops) and warm it between my palms. I then smooth it through the lengths and ends, and whatever remains I gently press into my roots. I follow by drying with my Airstrait for a really beautiful, sleek finish. My usually wiry hair feels softer and looks noticeably smoother. I’m also reassured by the inclusion of heat protectant. While Dyson maintains their tools don’t cause heat damage, I still believe it’s wise to use protection, especially if heat styling is something you're doing every day.

And of course, it would be remiss of me not to mention the scent. It's honestly gorgeous and far from an afterthought. Fresh, clean, and delicate, notes of citrus, green tea and bergamot blend with soft jasmine and heady rose. What a combination! It smells more like a fine fragrance than a hair product, catching the air every time the wind blows. I also find it incredibly long lasting, almost acting like a perfume in its own right.'
Final thoughts
Dyson's newest hair oil is a must for adding shine, strength and nourishment. It's lightweight, nourishing and has serious dressing table appeal. And, crucially, it makes my blow-dry last much longer. Would recommend - heartily.
