As we embark on our second lockdown of the year there's something weirdly nostalgic about Lockdown 1.0. Remember the banana bread? Wait, remember Normal People?! Daisy Edgar-Jones' portrayal of Marianne had us hooked and Googling fringe styles like nothing else. Now, as settle into Lockdown 2.0 our Daisy Edgar-Jones fringe and hair obsession is back in full force. In fact, the past week has seen Google searches for 'how to cut your fringe at home' shoot up by 170% in the UK. So what is it about Daisy Edgar-Jones' hair that has the nation in a spin? It's time to decode her look. Where better to start than that fringe?
Daisy Edgar-Jones' Fringe Decoded
According to hair guru and hairstylist to the stars Larry King, it's no surprise that we're all obsessed with Daisy Edgar-Jones' fringe right now. 'Most people are looking for transformational changes that are not only sustainable but impactful right now,' he says. 'Going down the fringe route gives you a way of changing your look whilst maintaining your length.'
Larry King has termed the Daisy Edgar-Jones fringe look the 'Fresh Faced Fringe'. 'The new "Fresh Faced Fringe" is a bit shorter in the middle and longer at the sides,' Larry explains. 'This style is all about blending your fringe into the haircut that you already have - it's a much softer look. This fringe is arched to frame the face. If you'd rather make as statement than go for a soft look, know that the more extreme you make that arch the more modern and impactful your fringe will look. Whether you're up for making a statement or would prefer the soft take on the "Fresh Faced Fringe" this fringe style will add structure.' You heard it here first.

We highly recommend using Lockdown 2.0 to pull together a Pinterest board of fringe-spiration to bring to your beloved hairdresser the next time you're allowed to book in (needless to say Daisy Edgar-Jones pictures will take up serious Pinterest board space here), but if you simply can't wait and are willing to proceed with the utmost caution we've got an illustrated guide to doing the job yourself at home right here:

Daisy Edgar-Jones' Hair Colour
Although for the majority of Normal People Daisy Edgar-Jones' character Marianne boasted a glossy conker brown hair colour, Daisy has been known do dabble with balayage IRL. Needless to say - as balayage involves taking your hair lighter - for us, it's a pro-only arena, but one that's well worth booking in for once we're out of lockdown as it's a seriously low-maintenance colour option. HARI's Creative Colourist Francesca Dixon explains the benefits of balayage: 'Balayage is a softened, sun kissed low maintenance colour treatment and is our go-to post lockdown recommendation at HARI’s for anyone who is time-sensitive and looking for something fuss free and long-lasting.'
'The word Balayage is French,' continues Francesca, 'and means to "sweep" or to "paint", which is the literal approach to the technique used. The Balayage technique involves hand painting hair in a sweeping motion with a brush which creates a sun-kissed, natural colour that once grown out leaves a softer, blended and less noticeable regrowth line!' Well, there you have it. Daisy Edgar-Jones obviously knows her stuff when it comes to hitting on the perfect hair colour job for a busy schedule.
Try not to use too many products on the hair before any colour appointment
Francesca has a few top tips for us before we commit to booking that colour appointment after lockdown: 'Try not to use too many products on the hair before any colour appointment and, if possible, use a clarifying shampoo pre-visit to remove any build up! We also always recommend booking in for a consultation before visiting a new salon or trying a new treatment - you want to make sure you are 100% happy and completely trust your hairdresser. Always take visuals with you if possible too as this is the best way to showcase exactly what you want, and allows us to explain what might work best for you, your features, hair cut and skin tone. '
