Whether it's dropping a surprise new album hot off the heals of a world tour or making cowboys cool again, Beyoncé-Knowles Carter doesn't do things by halves. Look to her latest Instagram post for the proof, where the singer turned beauty brand founder finally gave fans what they want – a full wash day hair tutorial.
It included all the essentials: her stylist (this is Beyoncé we're talking about), a rinse of her Cécred Hydrating Shampoo, £30, a generous coating of Cécred’s Fermented Rice & Rose Protein Ritual, £52, a nourishing hit of the Moisturising Deep Conditioner, £38, a slathering of the Cécred Moisture Sealing Lotion, £38, various Dyson hair styling tools (obv) and a slice of hair wisdom.
In the process, Beyoncé shows off her 'flourishing' lengths and takes a moment to put insatiable rumours about her natural hair to bed. In the clip, she says, 'The stigma and misconception is that people that wear wigs don’t have long and healthy hair. That's some bullsh*t cus it ain’t nobody's business, I get back to my hair,' before doing just that.
Clapping back at criticism when the brand first in February, which questioned her authority in the space based on assumptions that she wears wigs instead of her natural hair, Beyoncé took aim at unwarranted rumours in the best way possible – proving just how well Cécred has worked on her own hair. 'Ive been using these products and my hair has never grown so long, never been so moisturised, and I've managed to keep my texture and my curls even with my hair so blonde and my hair is flourishing,' she narrates to the backing voices of her style team repeating 'all natural!'.
Despite being a blonde of 25 years, Beyoncé has managed to keep her colour-treated hair 'healthy and strong,' an experience which has helped to spearhead Cécred's range, she reveals. That, alongside the rich personal history of the line and the celebration multi-dimensional hair, is ensuring Beyoncé latest venture is not to be questioned.
When will Beyoncé's Cécred haircare brand launch?
Cécred went live on 20 February 2024 and eager fans were able to sign up for updates well ahead of the launch thanks to the brand's website, here.
We first reported our inkling of a potential haircare line from megastar Beyoncé when she broke her perfectly curated and polished Instagram grid with a BTS shot of herself casually sat at her glam station, mid-tonging with lines of unlabelled, lab-sample-resembling bottles sprawled out in front of her. Soon after, Queen B put all the rumours to bed.
Then, Beyoncé took to Instagram to not only confirm the name of her brand but also give us a taste of what to expect – a wholesome line of haircare rooted in authenticity, tradition and heritage that figures as a homage to her mother and her Houston-based salon Headliners Hair Salon, which opened in 1990. The salon, which is captured in the announcement video, is where Beyoncé firsthand envisaged the power of hair. It is no wonder why the caption of her first post on Cécred's Instagram page simply reads: 'Hair is sacred.'
What do we know about Beyoncé's Cécred haircare brand so far?
The Renaissance star first revealed her line when she uploaded a picture of herself sitting in front of a dressing table. She was make-up free, sporting neon orange nails and tonging her hair with a curling wand. Most interesting, however, was the a collection of bottles to the bottom right of the shot. Eagle eyed fans noted how they 'looked auspiciously like lab samples' in the comment section. And they weren't wrong. Excitingly, Beyoncé had all but confirmed that a haircare brand was imminent, sharing a somewhat personal note on what haircare means to her. She said:
‘How many of ya'll knew my first job was sweeping hair in my mama's salon? Destiny's Child got our start by performing for clients while they were getting their hair done. I was exposed to so many different kinds of entrepreneurial women in her salon. I saw first-hand how the ways we nurture and celebrate hair can directly impact our souls. I watched her heal and be of service to so many women. Having learned so much on my hair journey, I've always dreamed of carrying on her legacy. I can't wait for you to experience what I've been creating.’
What hair products will Beyoncé's Cécred offer?
Beyoncé’s new range consists of a fully curated hair edit, which takes you through all the essential steps of wash day. The already award-winning line up features shampoo, conditioner, a scalp scrub, treatment masks and kits, lotion, oil, the works. Based on scientific innovation and high-performance, the line promises to deliver what all hair craves most, 'rich conditioners and fortifying protein, advanced science and fermentation, sensorial luxury and exceptional performance,' according to the brand's literature. This is where high-performing formulas and generational hair wisdom magically collide.
But let's not forget, this isn't Beyoncé's first foray into the world of beauty – who could forget the sweet, musky scent of her debut perfume Heat, her role as a L’Oréal ambassador which saw her front their Féria range, or her newest olfactive offering: Cé Noir.
Needless to say, Beyoncé's new hair range is set to be another highly successful one for the star. Watch this space…
