When Glossier launched its first and only fragrance in 2017, it redefined the parameters of what it takes to be a classic scent. It quickly became the highly-recommended niche perfume, a beacon of the skin scent category and flew off shelves to line the vanities of beauty editors and bloggers the world over. Look to TikTok for proof, where 72.7 million videos have been posted dissecting the magic of its elusive juice, or to Google where 11,000 reviews on the scent have been left by those looking to impart some wisdom on its mystery. There's no getting around it, Glossier You is a conversation starter or 'a conduit for connection,' as the brand puts it. And those conversations are about to enter a new phase as the brand (finally) welcomes two new fragrances to the family.

It took brand founder Emily Weiss and perfumers Frank Voekl (a.k.a the nose behind Le Labo showstoppers like Santal 33) and Dora Baghriche 38 revisions to co-create Glossier You. Brought to life by bright pink pepper, earthy iris, and a base of warm ambrette seeds and ambrox, the final and most noteworthy (pun intended) ingredient in the mix is, as the name suggests, you. Thanks to the formula consisting of mainly base notes and fewer notes than most fragrances, it lasts longer and allows your natural scent to shine through. And therein lies the beauty of it – it smells different on everyone.

Seven years, a hand cream, candle and let's not forget the new body cream later, the brand now brings us Impressions of You, a delectable fragrance wardrobe of skin enhancers designed to lift and never overpower your own unique scent. The first additions to the line up (yes, there are more to come) are You Doux, £62, and You Rêve, £62. Much like their predecessor, they share the same warm, musky ambrox and ambrette base, but – as Weiss puts it – just how martinis begin with a base of vodka before being made anew with other ingredients, each new fragrance in the wardrobe will be made distinct by a custom blend of top and middle notes. Were they worth the wait? We found out.

Glossier You Doux: Our Verdict

If like me, you are a Glossier You fanatic – I mean, you are so obsessed you never allow yourself to run out of the stuff – the new You Doux will make you fall just that much harder. The second You to be made in the collection, it is wholly familiar to the original scent, so much so that on first sniff, I couldn't tell them both apart – that is, until it dried down. Once melted into my skin, notes of powdery sweet violet, fresh palo santo and woody frankincense emerged to offer up a light and delicate ode to the classic. It is all together soft (hence the name), serene and sensual, and you will have to stop yourself from over spritzing.

Obsessed over the original? Allow us to introduce you to You Doux, the softer, more serene iteration of the classic and just as addictive.

Glossier You Rêve: Our Verdict

This is the scent which nods to the endless possibilities of the new 'wardrobe'. While still warm (check), musky (check), and creamy (checkmate), it takes a departure from what we know of You with top notes of milky buttercream and a heart of fruity plum butter, comforting toasted almond and woody sandalwood. It is yummy, sumptuous and sweet, but not in an overbearing sickly way, instead it settles in to reveal a sophisticated gourmand that is joyfully indulgent and deep. Think of this as the fun, younger sister of the original, who is perfect for date night.

Sumptuous and sexy, Glossier's second new fragrance is brought to life with sticky sweet plum butter and milky buttercream for a grown up gourmand take on the original You.
