It's only been a few hours since Prince Philip’s death was announced by Buckingham Palace but now a Fox News anchor has gone on the record implying Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are, in part, to blame.
That’s right, Fox & Friends host Brian Kilmeade immediately raised the topic minutes after announcing Prince Philip’s death to their US audience, stating ‘there are reports that [Philip] was enraged after the interview and the fallout from the interview with Oprah Winfrey, so here he is trying to recover and he’s hit with that… Evidently, it definitely added to his stress.’
It was the reaction so many were bracing themselves for on social media. Meghan in particular attracts fierce criticism, so some were even counting down the hours it took for certain sectors to imply Duke and Duchess of Sussex were to blame for Philip’s deterioration.
You can’t blame people for expecting the worst, even before Prince Philip’s death was announced Meghan and Harry had faced criticism for speaking up about their experience as royals at a time when Philip was in hospital. Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, even stated that ‘they should’ve waited’ merely due to the fact the Queen is 94 and Philip 99.
At the time, another US broadcaster and friend of the Sussexes, Gayle King, defended the couple, explaining that the interview was recorded and scheduled before Philip went into hospital earlier this year, and absolutely would not have aired had be died before it was set to be broadcast.
But still, the vile attempts to blame a grandson for his grandfather’s ill-health (at the grand age of 99) continued. It’s perhaps not surprising then that a host on a show like Fox & Friends has already made the link with zero respect or remorse for a family in mourning right now.
What’s clear from the reaction already online though is that many will not stand for any blame being place on Meghan and Harry. At the end of the day, Harry is mourning his grandfather, Meghan her grandfather-in-law, and the only sentiment anyone in the family needs right now is empathy and respect.
