It’s not uncommon for Made in Chelsea cast members to take a break from the show following a breakup, but it is unusual for them to take a break in the middle of a relationship.
When Yasmine Zweegers and Sam Prince started dating in the summer of 2023, things grew from tense to intense very quickly. Their relationship was controversial from the get-go – it began just days after Sam and his last girlfriend, Inga Valentiner, broke up, who happened to be one of Yas’s close friends. And it all came out during a group holiday to Mallorca.
When the new couple returned to London, it felt like the world was against them, and both Sam and Yas grew apart from some of their closest friends. They also grew much closer to each other, starting a joint food podcast called ‘All Things Deliciousss’, spending a lot of time abroad and eventually taking a break from the show to focus on their relationship.
Now they have both returned for season 29, but not with each other. Sam has joined the cast in the Maldives newly single, and Yas is back in London patching things up with her former best friends Miles Nazaire and David ‘Temps’ Templer. ‘There was a lot of drama packed in that first episode,’ Yas tells us. ‘It’s funny, though, a lot has changed now but it’s interesting to see what happened those months ago.’
She says ‘it’s a hard one having an ex in the friendship group’ and they made the decision not to both go to the Maldives for that reason. ‘We’re still broken up,’ Yas confirms, ‘but we’re on good terms. I think you see it unravel as the series goes on, you see more of what happened and the ins and outs of our relationship. Obviously we weren’t together at the beginning of the series, so neither of us really spoke about one another until we came back to London.’
‘I can’t say anything actually happened,’ Yas continued. ‘The relationship didn’t work out, but there’s a lot of love there for one another.’ She even admitted that her ex made her laugh when she watched the first episode – an episode where he tries to pursue Jack Taylor’s new girlfriend, Livvy Barker.
Do such good terms mean there is a chance they will reunite this season? ‘There is a date in the series, but it’s not with my ex,’ she teases. ‘It goes interestingly… Let’s say it’s not smooth sailing, right? But there is a date situation that happens later on in the series that didn’t go the way I thought it would go.’
In fact, Yas says she is involved in ‘a bit of a love triangle’ this season, and she is currently dating someone.
Now that she’s no longer with Sam, however, the MIC star has been able to repair her friendship with Miles, who she once had a will-they-won’t-they relationship with. ‘I think when you’re in a relationship, you’re kind of with each other,’ she says, defending her and Sam’s disappearing act. ‘Sam and I were away a lot so we weren’t in London for a while. But I'm closer with Miles again.'
Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like things went as smoothly with Temps. ‘Temps and I have a little bit of a turbulent relationship this series. We’re still filming, and we’ve not sorted it out yet. We are obviously really good friends and it’s hard to not be friends with your close friend, but it’s not been sorted.’
Even so, Yas is excited to be back filming the show. We can expect to see her grow closer to Jazz Saunders and Lauren Sintes this series and by the sounds of things perhaps her most recent ex too. ‘There’s some dating, but this series is more about the relationships among us as friends. There is a lot of drama between couples too, couples who are against each other,' she adds. We’re seated…
Made in Chelsea returns on E4 at 9pm.
