Netflix's latest chilling documentary series is certainly not one to miss. The show, titled Amy Bradley Is Missing, follows the case of missing person Amy Bradley, who disappeared from a cruise with her family without a trace. To this day, the case hasn’t been solved and continues to capture the attention of the internet.

Amy, 23, had been holidaying on a Royal Caribbean ship, the Rhapsody of the Seas in March 1998, with her family, which included her parents Ron and Iva and her brother Brad. A few days into their journey to Curaçao, she went out with her brother to a club on board the ship. Both of them returned to their cabin in the early hours. But things took a turn when Amy's father went to check on her in the morning, and she wasn't there.

And so began the mystery that continues to shock the world over two decades later. The three-part docuseries delves into Amy's final moments, and explores the fresh information surfacing over the years, and possible sightings. One of these involves cruise ship entertainer Alister Douglas.

Who is Alister Douglas?

Alister Douglas worked as an entertainer on the cruise ship that Amy Douglas vanished from in March 1998. But it turns out that Alister could be more central to the story than first anticipated.

In the Netflix documentary, a fellow cruise ship passenger called Lori Thompson 'claims she saw Amy with Alister 'Yellow' Douglas, an entertainer on the ship, shortly before Amy vanished.' According to the Mirror US, Alister is known as 'Yellow' thanks to his dyed hair.

Alister was questioned by the FBI about Amy. There was never any evidence found that he had anything to do with her disappearance, and he even did a polygraph test voluntarily to clear his name. He denies any involvement in Bradley's disappearance.

What has Alister Douglas's daughter Amica said about Amy Bradley's disappearance?

Alister's daughter, Amica, has spoken out about Amy Bradley’s case. She said she felt the case was a 'puzzle you can't put together' and maintained we need more answers about what happened. In the Netflix documentary, Amica calls her father on camera for a conversation.

'I would wish that you put yourself in my shoe and understand how I feel about this,' she tells him over the phone. Alister replies: 'Amica, they brought the FBI on immediately. And then he said to me that they're trying to find this girl that I was seen dancing with her. Everybody that had anything to do with cleaning her room, serving her drinks, we were grounded. When they realised nothing was involved, we continued to work. And I continued to work on the cruise ship until two years later.'

Amica goes on to ask her father about unconfirmed sightings of him and Amy after her disappearance. She asked: 'Why am I hearing that you were seen on the beach with her like months later?'

He responded: 'Which beach they saw me on? Because I don't like beaches. Amica, we danced at the club, like I danced with many people at the club. I did nothing... I'm sitting there, my name was called, I'm being questioned about something I don't know.'

Where is Alister Douglas now?

In 2024, Douglas gave an interview to True Crime This Week Investigates, with the show's interviewer James Renner learning details about his life.

'Alister has kept a low profile for many years,' James says, explaining he found Douglas on the island of Grenada. According to reports of the interview, Douglas is 'an exorcist' and a reverend who runs a church of about 40 to 50 people. Renner described it as a little more than a 'shack on the side of a mountain.'

What are the theories around Amy Bradley's disappearance?

The Netflix documentary has resurfaced all the theories that have been circulating around Amy's disappearance. When Amy went missing, frantic searches took place on the ship, but when it docked in Curaçao, she may have been able to slip off the boat unnoticed among the 2,500 passengers.

Others are concerned that she drowned after falling overboard, but a body has never been found. There is also no evidence to suggest this happened. There's also the fact that various people have claimed they saw Bradley in the years since she disappeared - but not one of these claims has been authenticated, according to USA Today.

The series also explores the theory that Bradley might have been human trafficked, speaking to US Navy seaman Bill Hefner. He 'believes he met a distressed Amy in a bar after his ship arrived in Curaçao in January 1999, ten months after she went missing,' according to Netflix.

For now, the mystery of what happened to Amy Bradley remains...
