It's been a summer of Y2K reunions. We've had an Oasis reunion, a Freaky Friday spin-off, and a Clueless sequel. And now, to top it all off, there's a remake of The Devil Wears Prada in the works, with many of the original cast returning.

That's right, after almost two decades, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci will be back on our screens in their iconic roles. Although the film won't hit cinemas until May 2026, there's already been plenty of pictures dropping from the movie set, teasing all the sartorial style and glamorous locations we can expect to see on our screens.

The sequel is expected to follow Miranda Priestly, as she navigates the cut throat world of magazine publishing. Miranda reportedly struggles against Emily Charlton, her former assistant turned rival executive, as they compete for advertising revenue amidst declining print media while Miranda approaches retirement.

But the question on everyone's lips this week is - who dies? Eagle-eyed fans have speculated that a funeral could be on the cards after Anne Hathaway and Stanley Tucci were spotted filming together in Central Park. The pair were dressed in black and walked arm in arm. Anne wore a dress, long coat, sunglasses and heels, while Stanley wore a dark suit with a paisley tie.

Fans were quick to speculate that they were filming a funeral scene - leading to the crucial question of who could have been killed off. Some have questioned whether it could be Miranda or Emily, considering they were both mutual acquaintances of Emily and Nigel. One user wrote on X: 'Anne Hathaway and Stanley Tucci were spotted filming a funeral scene for The Devil Wears Prada 2 in New York. Fans are already asking: whose funeral is it… could it be Miranda Priestly?' Another fan asked 'Wait, does Miranda die? Nooo.' Another commented 'If they kill Miranda Priestly, what's even the point?' A third simply penned 'IM MORE SCARED NOW- I MIGHT THROW UP.'

While fans have long been desperate for a sequel to one of the most iconic fashion films ever made, it wasn't always on the cards. On The View in 2022, Hathaway said that making a sequel would be 'tempting' but perhaps not possible given the changing media landscape. 'I don’t know if there can be,' Hathaway said at the time. 'I just think that movie was in a different era. Now, everything has gone so digital and that movie centered around the concept of producing a physical thing. It’s just very different now.'

But let's be honest, we knew Miranda Priestly wouldn't give in that easily. That's all.
