The 94th Academy Awards were a dramatic night but it was also a historic night for cinema, with the Best Picture award going to CODA, the first time a streaming service has won the accolade. CODA (which stands for Children of Deaf Adults) tells the story of Ruby (British actress Emilia Jones) the only hearing person in a deaf family. A low-budget indie film, CODA has now made history, marking the first time a movie with a predominantly deaf cast has won an Academy Award.
