If there’s anything British people love to do, it’s complain - even while watching the TV. Now, as we hurtle into another decade, Ofcom have revealed the most complained about TV shows of the past ten years - and the results might slightly surprise you (or, in some cases, they probably won’t).
We can tell you’re dying to know the most complained about moment of the decade, and it actually only happened last year. Roxanne Pallett ignited 25,327 complaints, after she wrongly accused Ryan Thomas of punching her on Celebrity Big Brother.
The second most complained about show was an episode of Loose Women last year, when Kim Woodburn stormed off set after calling her former Celebrity Big Brother housemate Coleen Nolan ‘lying trash’. Kim was reduced to tears after claiming that she was bullied by Coleen in the house, and shouted: ‘I wouldn't want to sit and talk with lying trash. She's a horrible person. You are trash, you're a piece of filth!’ before storming off the set. And 8,000 people got in touch with the watchdog to complain.
In third and fourth place consecutively was documentary UKIP: The First 100 Days - which those who complained said the portrayal of the party was misleading and bias - and an episode of Sky News where viewers alleged bias in an interview with Tommy Robinson.
X Factor also drawed in complaints, for performances by Rihanna and Christina Aguilera in 2010 that some viewers thought were too explicit for broadcast before the 9pm watershed.
In at number six was when presenter Jon Snow said earlier this year, after a day of pro-Brexit rallies, that he had never seen so ‘many white people in one place’ with 2,717 complaining about it.
But, in at number seven - tbh we’re surprised it’s not higher - was an episode of Love Island, where complaints were made after Dani Dyer was shown a clip of her boyfriend Jack Fincham with his former partner.
