Whilst The White Lotus creator and writer Mike White has been keeping pretty tight-lipped about the upcoming third season of the show, the first teaser trailer has now been released, expectedly to much excitement. Not only is it a first (but brief) glimpse of the new White Lotus Thailand resort, but a reintroduction to series one’s Belinda Lindsey.
The teaser clip for the HBO series – which also confirmed that The White Lotus season three will be on our screens in 2025 – shows Belinda removing her sunglasses as she enters the new White Lotus resort in Thailand.
You remember Belinda – played by Natasha Rothwell - the Hawaii resort’s sweet spa manager who forms a close, but complicated bond with Tanya McQuoid AKA the Jennifer Coolidge.
Discussing her series three return with Vanity Fair, Natasha said, 'I gasped out loud a minimum of five times and this was just me reading [the scripts].
'The scripts are a testament to Mike [White]'s skill and ability to tell the most smart and entertaining stories. I mean, everything that he does is like a lesson to me as an actor and a performer. And as a writer myself, he takes folks on a journey. Everyone needs to buckle up, because it's going to get real!'
But that isn’t all – another clip from the upcoming third series also unveils new cast members Jason Isaacs, Parker Posey, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sam Nivola and Sarah Catherine Hook arriving at the White Lotus resort. Parker’s character is later heard declaring from her sunbed, ‘What happens in Thailand stays in Thailand.’
That is all we have to work with, for now. But let’s have a little recap on Belinda Lindsey in the meantime.
Throughout series one, Belinda was hoping that the loaded Tanya would invest in her wellbeing business, something Tanya ultimately decided not to. We’re thinking that after Tanya’s shocking death at the end of last series at the hands of ‘the gays’, maybe she finally made good on her promise to Belinda and left her some money to her in her will.
So far so plausible right?
However, someone who won’t be happy about Tanya’s sudden turn of generosity is her husband Greg Hunt, played by Jon Gries. After all, he seemingly played a role in Tanya’s death in the hope that he could profit from it. Maybe he’ll be back for a third series, tracking down Belinda as she sets up shop at a White Lotus hotel in Thailand. Could more murder be on the cards or maybe we’ll finally get Tanya the justice that she deserves?
We really think we might be onto a winner here. But despite all the conspiracies and rumours regarding The White Lotus, there are always plenty of twists and turns to keep us hooked, so chances are we could be completely wrong with these predictions. Doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun guessing though!
There have also been rumours that Natasha’s fellow series one star Connie Britton - who played Nicola Mossbacher – could be returning after saying in an interview, ‘[Mark] wanted me to be in the second season, and there was an idea that I loved for the character. Our intention is to do it in the third season. A piece of casting didn’t work in the second season and we’re hoping to do that in the third season.’
However, when asked to confirm or deny whether or not she’ll be back in a more recent interview, the actress merely said, ‘Listen, my lips are sealed!’
We need some answers!
